Be it known that T, CHARnEs HARRY HOUSE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Arkansas City, in the county of Cowley and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful llm rovements in Fountain Brushes, of which t e following is a specification.

My invention relates to fountain brushes, adapted for use as tooth brushes, while not necessarily restricted to such use.

to provide means whereby-a tube of tooth paste may be attached to the shank of thetooth brush and the tooth paste supplied to the brush head, as desired, near its working surface. V

A further object of the invention is to provide a brush of the above mentioned character which is simple in construction, cheap to manufacturastrong and durable.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the followingdescription.

a purpose to be described. The numeral 16 designates a tube receiving socket or ring, which is rigidly attached to the socket M by spaced arms 17 or the like.

.The back and handle 12 are provided with a groove 18, which leads at its forward end into a transverse groove'19, passing through the central portion of the back 10. The groove 18 terminates at its rear end, at the point 20, and leads into an opening 21, formed in the rear end of the handle or shank. 12.

Adapted to extend longitudinally within the groove 18 is a preferably rigid feed tube 22, which may be formed of metal, or any other suitable material. At its forextension 23, arranged at substantially a right angle to the tube. This lateral extension passes through the transverse opening 19, and projects beyond or above the head 10 for a substantial distance, and is screw-threaded, for the reception of a clamp mg nut 24-, which holds the tube in firm engagement with the bottom wall of the groove. The lateral extension 23 carries a flexible tube 25, formed 'of rubber or the like, which is arranged within a space between the bristles and extends to the upper or working ends of the bristles. If desired, a removable plug 26 may be inserted within the free end of the tube 25. This tube is soft and flexible and will not injure the gums. At its rear end, the supply tube 22 passes through the opening 15 and projects rearwardly therebeyond, and is screwthreaded, for engagement within the screwthreaded opening 27 of a coupling cap 28.

This will prevent the tube bending, but will permit of its being flattened, for forcing the contents from the same.

1. A fountain tooth brush embodying a brush head comprising-a back and bristles carried by the back, said back having a longitudinal groove and a transverse 0pening, a feed tube arranged within the longitudinal groove and having a transverse extension passing through and beyond the transverse opening, a clamping nut carried by thetransverse extension and engaging the back, a flexible tube mounted upon the endiof the transverse extension and leading through the working face of the bristles, a socket receiving the rear end of the back and having an opening formed therein to receive the'feed tube, a tooth paste tube receiving socket connected with the first named socket, and a coupling cap having screwthreaded-engagement with the rear end of the said tube and adapted to receive and have a screw-threaded engagement with the screw-threaded 'neck ofthe tooth paste tube. a

3. A fountain tooth brush embodying a brush llead comprising a back and bristles carried thereby, said back having a transverse opening, a feed tube extending longitudinally of the back and having a transverse extention passing through the transverse opening, the rear end of the feed tube extending beyond said back, a socket receiving the rear end of the back and having the feed tube passing therethrough, a coupling cap having a screw-threaded opening to receive the rear end of thefeed tub and toclamp the socket upon said back, said coupling 'cap being adapted for screwthreaded engagement with the neck of a tooth paste tube, and a tooth paste tube receiving socket carried by the first named socket.
