Description

J. A. SEXAUER STOPPER LINK I Filed larch 4. 1922 Y INVENTOR Ta 4 J'J M BY ATTORNEY bah f Patented Got. 27, 1925.
roma A. SEXAUER, osnnwyomg, n.
STOPPER LINK.
Application filed March 4, 1922. Serial No. 541,061.
To all whom it nm l/ concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN A. SEXAUER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county of New York, State of New York, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Stopper Links, of which the following is a specification.
T his invention relates to connecting links or anchors for readily securing wash-bowl and tub stoppers to their anchor chains.
In the use of anchor chains for fastening wash-bowl and bath-tub or wash-tub stoppers, and the like, it has heretofore been found ditlicult to satisfactorily secure the above named stoppers to their anchor chains, as the connecting chain link soon becomes worn and breaks, or if a new stopper is required the same cannot be readily or satisfactorily connected to the chain.
The prime object of my invention therefore includes the provision of a connecting stopper link which will firmly receive the stopper and which will not readily break even after considerable usage. A further object includes the provision of a replaceable link and a link construction which permits ready connection between the anchor chain as well as between thelink and stopper, or the like. 1 t ltlier objects will appear hereinafter, and I attain these objects by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in. which- Fig. 1 is a view in elevation with the chain link partially in section.
'lhg'. .3 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but at right angles thereto.
Fig. 3 is a plan View.
Fig. l is a view of another form of construction.
Fig. is an elevation taken at right angles to Fig. l.
Referring now to the drawing wherein like numerals refer to similar parts, represents a stopper of any desired size or material, but usually of rubber. It may however be of other material as brass, and the like. This stopper is of the standard type, and is provided with the usual anchor block 11, which block is supplied with a hole 12 for receiving my improved anchor or stopper link 13. This link may assume any desired shape or form. In a preferred form this anchor link may embrace an anchor engaging portion 14, which may continue in substantially parallel sides 15 and 16.
These sides may widen into more or less ring or circular chain holding parts 17, and terminate in hook ends 18, 18. The hook ends are offset to a greater or less degree, and serve toguard against accidental detachment of the anchor chain 19. The anchor link may be made of sprinor material, if desired, and its resiliency will serve to gently but safely hold the anchor chain link 5-30 in place, as is best shown in Fig. 2.
If desired, and for certain purposes, the link may assume circular form, more or. less, and in accordance with that illustrated in Figs. i and 5.
In the type illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5,
the anchor link may assume the ring shaped form, and may consist of a double concentricring having opening jaws 21 and on opposite sides of the offset connecting portion 23.
From the above disclosure the use of my stopper or anchor link is readily understood, and comprises hooking anchor link over one of the terminal hook ends 18, then moving the link forward to engage the other hook, as 18, and pulling the chain up. It is alsoapparent that the stopper may be "readily detached, or attached, and that the connection is quickly made and will secure the stopper firmly.
While I have shown and described specilic embodiments of my invention, and a mode of applying the same, I do not thereby desire to be understood as having thus unnecessarily limited myself, as various modifications falling wholly within the spirit and scope of my invention, may present themselves to those versed in the art. hat I claim therefore as new and useful, and of my own invention, and desire to'secure by Letters Patent is;-
1. In an anchor chain link for securing a stopper to an anchor chain, a stopper link having a U-shaped seat for holding said stopper and resilient sides terminating in parallel substantially equi-curved overlapping portions having inturned hook ends, said overlapping portions being tensioned to frictionally engage and hold a link of said anchor chain.
2. In an anchor device for freely holding chain to hold the same from disengaging a stopper and frictionally securing an anand to permit quick attaching or detaching. chor chain, a stopper link having at one In testimony whereof I have hereunto set 14 portion eat f f e l engaging th l my hand on this 24th day of February,
I of a stopper, and at the other provided With 1922- overlapping jaws for resiliently and frictionally engaging the link of an anchor JOHN A. SEXAUER.
