Be it known that I, EDWIN LASKOWSKI, a citizen of the United States, residing at South Bend, in the county of Saint Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Globe Caps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in electric lamps, the general object of the invention being to provide means for facilitating the placing of the bulb in its socket and to eliminate the screwing action.
Another object of the invention is to so form the attaching means that the ordinary screw threaded socket can be used with the invention. r
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended erably staggered, as shown in Figures 1 and claims.
In describing my invention in detail, ref= erence 'will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is an enlarged sectional view through the cap part of the bulb.

In these views, 1 indicates the cap and 2 the glass body of an electric lamp bulb, the cap usually being formed with threads so that it can be threaded into an ordinary terminal socket. It is the object of my invention to eliminate this screw action of the bulb into a socket and to providemeans wherebyrthe connection can be made by simply pressing the bulb into a socket. In carrying out my invention I make the cap 1 with a number of holes 3 which are pref- 2. A spring latch 4 is associated with each hole, this latch being formed of a spring strip which is soldered orotherwise fastened to the'interior of the cap and with its rounded projection o normally extendlng interior of the cap.

Thus when the bulb with the improved cap thereon is pressed into a socket the spring latches will be forced inwardly, as shown in dotted lines in Figure l, as they ride over the threads in .the socket and they willengage portions of the threads and thus hold the bulb in the socket. The bulb can be taken from the socket by pulling the same with sufficient force to cause the latch members to ride over the threads in the socket.

It will thus be seen that the improved lamp bulb can be easily and quickly placed in a socket or removed therefrom by simply pressing the bulb into the socket or pulling it from the same. By this invention the screwing action necessary for placing a bulb in a socket and removing it from the socket is eliminated so that much time is saved and bulbs can be removed from difiicult places by means of a pole and a loop on the same,

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

hat I claim is 1. An electric light bulb having a spring latch in its cap for engaging a portion of the thread of a socket, said cap having an opening therein through which the latch projects and a cover within thecap for the lat-ch member.
2. An electric light bulb comprising a cap having an opening therein, a spring strip fastened to the interior of the cap and having a projection thereon extending through the opening to engage a portion of the threads in a socket and a plate having a chamber formed therein, connected with the interior of the cap and enclosing the portion of the strip which carries the projection.
3. An electric light bulb comprising a cap having a plurality of holes therein arranged in staggered relation, a spring latch associated with each hole and formed of a spring strip fastened to the interior of the cap and having a rounded projection extending through the hole and a cover for each latch fastened to the interior of the cap.
