Description
E. G-ABEL Aug. 25, 1925.
RECORD HOLDER Filed May 10, 1924 Patented Aug. 25, 1925. I I 4 To all whom-a may concmr 1- j Be it known that" LiELL SWOR T I 'I' ,GABEL, a citizeirof the United States, residing'at Harrisburg, in the county of'Dauphin, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Record Holders and I do hereby declare theifollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. g
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in containers, and particular- 1 ly to containers for phonograph records,
of the disk type.
One object of the invention is to provide a device of this character wherein a plurality of envelopes are mounted in bookform, and wherein all of said envelopes may be moved into jalousied position to display the entire set of records, thus making the selection of the desired record easy.
Another object is to provide a novel means for connecting the envelopes whereby they may be arranged in proper and even stacked relation, when the book, containing such envelopes, is closed, and whereby such env'elopes may be easily and quickly moved into jalo-usied position when the book is open, to facilitate the selection of the desired record. 7 1
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in. connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a recordcontaining book, made in accordance with the present lnventlon, and shown in open position, with the envelopes in jalousied position.
Figure 2 is an edge view of the book 1n closed position.
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional detail view through the connected portions of the envelopes.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 and 11 represent the two boards of the back of the book, which are connected by the hinge portion 12.- The free end of the board 10 is formed with a flap 13 which overlaps the free end of the board 11, when the book is in closed position, and carries the socket'portion 14, of a fast ener which engages with the head portion 15, carried by the board 11.

are the enve alopes 16,, formed preferably. of
velopes having their closed 'ends disposed envelopes, indicated by the numeral 16, is preferably secured to the board 10..
Astrip of cloth 17, of a width equal to that of the envelopes 16, has one end secured between the envelope 16 and the board 10,
with its other end free, while the intermediate portion is folded in bellows 'formation, with the folds extending into the spaces between adjacent envelopes, at the closed ends thereof. One' portion ofeach of these folds, which folds are indicated by the numeral 18, is secured to the inner face of the closed end ofthe envelope. Extending transversely of each of the envelopes, at the closed end thereof,is a strip of'cloth 19, one edge portion of which is secured to the inner face of the envelope, inwardly ofthe strip 17, and its other edge portion secured to the outer face of the lower, or inner envelope, while the intermediate portion of the strip 19 is secured to the other portion of-the fold 18. The free end of the strip 17 has secured thereto one edge portion of a strip of cloth 20, whereby toform a double thickness for the free end, which is grasped to pull the envelopes out into jalousied arrangement. -The other edge por-' tion of the strip 20 is secured to the outer 'or upper face of the closed end of the outeradjacent the hinge portion 12. One of the r pulled out into jalousied position, all of 7 these bitso-f information are simultaneously exposed to view, thus enabling the person to quickly locate the desired record, without the necessity of turning over each of the.
envelopes, and pullin out the records to find the record wante -When the book, is closed, the envelopes will assume the normal position, shown in Figure 2, after the manner of the ordinary record books of this type.
I What is claimed is: 1. A book for disk records including a pair of hinged boards, a plurality of recordreceiving envelopes between the boards, a
flexible connecting means between the closed ends of. the envelopes comprising a strip of material having one end secured to oneof the boards and the other end free, said strip having a plurality of folds one portion of each of which is secured to one face of the closed end of an envelope, and means between the closed ends of the envelopes and secured thereto and to the other portions of the folds of the connecting means for spacing the closed ends of the envelopes.
2. A book for disk records including a pair of hinged boards, a plurality of recordreceivingenvelopes between. the boards, and
