Description
July 28, 1925. 1,547,171 P. HUTTLIN BOUNCE BALL GAME APPARATUS Fi1eg1 July 3, 1924 ATTORNEYS Sill Patented July 28, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL HUTTLIN. or G'EnMANToWN, PENNSYLVANIA, AssmnoR F ONE-HALF T0 R0$S B. LINTON, on PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
BOUNCE-BALL GAME APPARATUS.
Application filed m a,
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1-. Part. HnTTLiN. a citizen of the l mited States. residing at Gei'inantown. county of Philadelphia. State of Pennsylvania. have invented a new and useful ilounced all Game lq'iparatus. of Which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a novel construc tion of a honnce hall game apparatus. wherein I employ an inclined. preterahly rectangular hox divided hy partitions. preterahly arranged at right angles. so as to form a plurality of numhered compartnients. which are adapted to rcceire halls, which are caused to hounre into the con]- partnients so nnmhered from a prescrihed distance. means being provided for forming 2, ha rk stop whose lower horizontal portion forms the rear wall ot the box. so that a rigid and durahle construction, is provided. whereby any inisplaycd halls. lmuncing over or beyond the compartments will tend to he deflected hy the said hack stop into one of the ('OIHPEIIUHOHtS.
The entire apparatus is supported on two front legs and two rear legs. which depend from the lower portion of the hack stop Frame; said latter legs heing spaced wider apart than the front legs. so that the apparatus is at all times rigidly supported. and can he readily transported as a unit to and from the place of use. as picnics. carnivals and the like.
By my device a novel houncc hall game apparatus is provided. which is simple. durahle and inexpensive to construct, and which will ailord considcrahle amusement and require considerahle skill to play.
It further cons sts of other novel features of construction and advantage. all us will he hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim For the purpose of illustrating my invention I. have shown in the accompanying drawings t'orms thereoi which are at present preferred h me. since the same have been found in practice to give satistactoiy and rcliahle results. although it is to he un derstood that the various instrumentalities ot' which my invention consists can he variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization f the iustru mentalities as herein shown and descrihed.
Figure 1 represents a perspective View of 1924. Serial No. 723,886.
a novel hounce ball game apparatus e111 hodying my invention.
Figure 2 represents a vertical sectional view on line Q2 Figure 1.
Figure 3 represents a plan view of the rear wall of the apparatus which also forms the hottom ot the hack stop t'raine.
Similau numerals of rct'erence indicate corresponding .parts.
1 designates my novel construction of a hounce hall ganie apparatus, the same comprising a hasc member 2 having the Sides 3. the front wall 1- and the rear wall 5 which provided with laterally extending terminal arms (3. which are mortiscd. screwed or otherwise secured to the upright rear legs 7. which are joined at their upper portions he the upper har or rail 8. The space hctweeii the legs T. the top rail 8 and the lower hack member 5 is provided with a hack stop 9 of board or of wire mesh or the like. 10 designates the transverse partitions. which in the present instance are two in number. 11 designates the longitudinally extending pal-til ions which are three in number. whereby a series of compartments i3 is formed. which are numhered l to 12. as will he un derstood from Figure 1. The front of the apparatus is supported by the front legs 12. wlucl are closer together than the rear legs 7. so that the apparatus is elicctivelv supported under all conditions and can be readily transported or set up at any desired point.
The manner of constructing and locating the hack stop. adds greatly to the rigidity of the device. and by projecting the hack stop up to about the height shown in Figure 1, any misplaycd halls hitting the hack stop will tend to he projected therefrom into the various pockets or compartments.
In playing the game the players employ preterahly so'tt ruhhcr halls. each player heing given a prodeteriiined nnmher ot' halls and the game is played hy each player lodging his hall in a coiupailinent on the first hounce. The game can he played hy two or more persons. individually or in teams. setting a goal nuinhcr to he ohtained. the winner hcing the person or team that attain the goal nuinher first. The game can also be played hy individuals or teams totaling the numhers oi, the compartments after all halls assigned to player or team receiving the highest total is the winner of the game.
loo
Y is to It will now be apparent that I have devised a novel and useful bounce ball game apparatus which embodies the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description, and while I have, in the present instance shown and described a preferled embodiment thereof which will give in practice satisfactory and reliable results, it be understood that such embodiment is susce-Jtible of modification in various particulars without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letter Patent, is:
1. In a game apparatus, an inclined bottom, front and side walls therefor, a back stop, a rear wall forming both the rear wall of the apparatus and the bottom of the back stop and provided with laterally extending arms projecting beyond said side walls, upright rear legs attached to said arms, a top rail attached to the upper portions of said rear legs and a back stop internieiliate said rear legs, back wall and top ra1 2. In a game apparatus, an inclined bottom, front and side Walls therefor, a back stop, a rear Wall forming both the rear wall of the apparatus and the bottom of the back stop and provided with laterally extending arms, upright rear legs attached to said arms, a top rail attached to the upper portions of said upright legs, a back stop intermediate said rear legs, back Wall, and top rail, and a pair of front legs which are spaced closer together than said rear legs.
PAUL HUTTLIN.
