w. c. L. HALIBROE CARRYING CASE FOR MACHINE GUN BARRELS Filed Sept. 3, 1924 Patented May 19, 1925.
\ UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARRYING CASE FOR MACHINE-GUN BARRELS.
Application filed September To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WERNER CHRISTIAN LASSEN HAUBROE, director, a subject of the King of Denmark, residing at Copenhagen,
'5 in the Kingdom of Denmark, have invented new and useful Improvements in Carrying Cases for Machine-Gun Barrels, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a carrying 1 case for barrels for machine guns with exchangeable barrel.
On the drawing:
Fig. 1 shows the carrying case in side elevation,
Fig. 2 a section along the line II-II of Fig. 1, and
- Fig. 3 a section along the line IIIIII of Fig. 2.
a is a case, for instance of leather, inside of which a tube 6 of metal, for instance, brass, is provided. The tube 6 is fitted at either end with an outwardly directed flange 0 pierced by a circular row of holes (1. Each flange 0 supports a collar 6 attached to the leather case a by means of rivets f or the like. Between each of the said collars and the leather case an asbestos ring 9 is inserted. In the bottom 72. of the leather case several holes j are provided. At
top the leather. case a is fitted with an ex- 3, 1924. Serial N0. 735,549.
tension is closed by a cover Z, and on the side of the case a strap m for carrying the same is provided.
After being detached from the machine gun, the heated barrel is inserted into the tube I), while the breech block fixed on the barrel is housed in the case extension is. By way of the holes 9' and d and along the not tightly fitting cover the air is free to circulate, and the barrel is thereby cooled.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is Carrying case for barrels for machine guns with exchangeable barrel, characterized by a case a of leather or other suitable material intowhich there is inserted a metal tube 6 fitted at both ends with an outwardly directed flange 0 with holes d, each flange being fitted with a collar e attached to the case a, in the bottom of which several holes j are provided, air being free to circulate by way of the holes (Z and 9' whereby the heated barrel inserted in the tube 6 will be cooled.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
WERNER CHRlSTlAN LASSEN HAUBROE.
