Description
Patented Mar. 24, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HORACE EDWARD PEARCE BRACEY, OF LITHGOW, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA.
CROWN-CORK REMOVER.

To all'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Honnon EDWARD .Pniinon Bnaonr, a subject oi? the King of Great Britain, residing at l Venvoe, Ordnance Avenue, Lithgow, in the State of New South Wales and Commonwealth of Australia, have invented a new and useful Improved Crown-Cork Remover, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has been specially devised in order to produce a cheap, simple and handy in'iplement or tool or domestic utensil for the removal oi. crown corks from bottles and which may also be conveniently used as,
a pipe cleaner. 7
This in'iproved crown cork remover coinprises a bar of stamped metal preferably concaved forming a hatt or handgrip and having one of its ends tongued and the part surrounding the tongue turned down more or less at right angles to the bar length and the lower or end bar of this turned down end is preferably convened. In a. modifiedconstruction instead of the part surrounding the tongue being turned down the tongue itself is so turned down more or less rectangularly and the end thereof formed into a hook facing the slot from which the tongue is bent.
The invention will be more fully described with reference to the accom iianying drawings wherein Fig.1 is a side elevation of! a preferred constriu-timi of this improved crown cork remover. Fig. 2 is an end view and Fig. 3 a plan of same. Fig. lis aside elevation of the modified construction of crown corz remover while Fig. 5 is an end View. and Fig. 6 a plan of same.
In Figs. 1,2 and 3 thecrown cork remover is a concaved stamped steel bar forming a haft or grip 7 having one end tongued at 8 and the side parts 9 and end bar 10 surrounding the unbent or straight tongue ing hole 12 is similarly provided.
crown cork remover the unbent tongue 8 is placed on top of a crown cork, shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 and the convened bar 10 is placed beneatl' the gofl'erings of said crown cork and the latter may be readily removed by upward leverage. The
rounded end 11 of the remover forms a handy pipe cleaner.
In the modified construction oi: this iin proved crown cork remover shown in Figs. l, 5 and 6 it has a bait 7 similar to that before described bnt a tongue 13 is bent downwardly therefrom at one end and formed with a hook end 14. and'the extremity o'l this slotted end is rounded at 15 as also is the'other end at 11. A hang metal bar it may be made of fiat metal or.
metal otherwise contoured but concave shape is preferable as it gives strength to the ren'iover and permits of thinner gauge metal being used.
to secure by Letters Patent is An improved crown corkreinover consisting of a concaved ha'lt or handgrip having one of its ends tongued and the portion surrounding the tongue turned down more or less at rightangles thereto the cross piece of the surrounding portion being conveXed transversely to form a catch as and for the purpose described.
\Vhat I claim as my invention and desire.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification 1n the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HORACE EDWARD PEARCE BRACEY. itnesses MARGARET Frrzonunnn, J. A. DUNoAN.
