To all whom it may concern: Y
Be it known that I, FRANK J. GREEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gibbon, in the county of Bualo and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tell Casings, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
Ihis invention relates to certain improvements in well casings and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved casing of this general' character comprising a plurality of sections adapted to be superimposed one upon the other together with means for maintaining said sections in assembled relation.
Another object yof the invention is to provide a novel and improved casing of this general character wherein that portion thereof below the water line is provided with openings to permit ingress of water within the casing. Y

The walls of the sections S below the waterV level or within the water bearing. gravel have disposed therethrough the horizontally disposed cores or openings 2, each of said openings or cores 2 being relatively narrow in a direction transversely of the wall in which it is formed and comparatively long in a direction longitudinally of said vwall whereby the maximum diameter of said ings is slightly larger than the inner or eduction end of such core or opening, the
walls of said core or opening being tapered from the induction end to the eduction or inner end. By this formation of the openings-2 the action of the pump (not shown) associated with the assembled or applied casing is materially increased as the requisite lifting of the water will be facilitated. j In practice, Il find it preferable to have n the aggregate area of the eduction or inner In order that my invention may be theendsof `the 'cores or openings 2 of each face or wall of a section S equal to approximately fifteen per cent of the area of said wall or face. As the pumping or lifting mechanism forms no part of my present invent-ion it is not believed necessary that the same be described or illustrated.

From the foregoing description itV is thought to be obvious that a well casing constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience'and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, `and it will also be obvious that my. invention is susceptable of some change and modification without departing fromthe principles and spirit thereof and for this reason l do not Wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
l claim l A Well casing comprising a plurality of sections adapted to be superimposed' one upon the other, the Walls of each of the sections being of material thickness, reinforcements embedded within the walls of each of the sections adjacent the' opposite ends thereof, opposite end portions of each of the sections being similarly beveled to provide a male end and a female end to assure a selfaligning tight joint when the sections are assembled, thev upper sections of the casing having the walls imperforate with the exception of openings in the opposite end portions thereof, the lower section having openings disposed through the walls thereof substantially at right angles to the axis of said section, each of said openings being relatively narrow in a direction transversely of the section and comparatively long in a direction longitudinally of said section, each of said openings` being tapered from the outer end to the inner end thereof, connecting ties disposed throughthe end openings of the imperforate sections to hold the same in assembled relation, and ties disposed through the upper tapered openings of the lower section and the lower openings in the adjacent imperforate section to hold said two sections in assembled relation.
