METHOD OF FIRING RACK BARS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX LITT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Trenton, in the county of Mercer and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Methods of Firing Rack Bars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the formation of straight bars of porcelain for use as towel racks and the like, the object of the invention being to form the bars with T-shaped heads, so that they can be suspended in a furnace in a vertical position without the bars touching any part of the furnace.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide special saggers made with holes for receiving the bars and holding the heads.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illus trated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figures 1 and 2 are views of the device for holding the bars.
Figures 3 to 7 are views of different forms of bars constructed in accordance with this invention.
Figure 8 is a view of the finished bar.
Figures 9 to 12 are sectional views through different kinds of bars.
In carrying out my invention, I form straight bars 1 of the desired length and shape and provide each bar with a T-shaped head 2. The saggers 3 are provided with holes 4 in the top through which the bars are passed, the T-shapedheads engaging the top so that the bars are held in suspended condition and will not touch any part of the furnace. After firing, the T-shaped end. is knocked off on the line 5, and this end of the bar is then smoothed off to correspond with the other end. As shown in the drawings, the bars can be made round or square or any other shape. The ends of the bars are to be placed on brackets to make the complete rack.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall with in the scope of the appended claim.

The herein described method of forming straight bars of porcelain comprising in providing the bars with T-shaped heads and suspending them by said heads in vertical position and firing.
