it pertains more particularly to a receptacle adapted to receive the flag and protect it from the elements when the liag is not in use.

`The primary object of the invention is to provide means for'storing the liag when not in use, said means being constructed so as to receive the flag when the same is' lowered from the raised position on the flag pole.

A further object of the invention is to combine with the aforementioned flag-cow taining means, suitable means for raising and lowering the flag.

With the above and other objects in view, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in whichv Figure 1 is' a perspective view of a flag pole with the flag-containing receptacle of the present invention in operative relation therewith;

Mounted in the lower receptacle 19, to the rear of the shaft 20, is a shaft 25, and said shaft 25 has mounted thereon two loose pulleys 26 and 27. Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

l. A device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a rear Wall projecting above said receptacle, side Walls hinged to the rear Wall and adapted to embrace said receptacle, and a top Wall hingedly secured to one of the side Walls and adapted to close said receptacle.

A. device of the character described comprising a receptacle, a vertically pro ject-ing rear Wall extending above said receptacle, side Walls hinged to said rear Wall and having their lower ends overlapping the upper edge of said receptacle, and a 'top `wall hingedly secured to oneot' said side n Walls and adapted to maintain the side Walls in closed position with relation to said receptaele.

A device of the character described comprising a receptacle having a rear Wall projecting vertically therefrom, a pair ofi side Walls hii'igedly secured to the side edges of said rear Wall and of a length such thatl their lower ends will embrace the receptacle when the side Walls are in closed position7 and a top Wall hinged to one of said side Walls and having side flanges or a length such that the)T Will embrace all but one of the side Walls when the side Walls and 'the hinged top Wall are in closed position.
