Be it known that I, CHARLES A. ROSEN- 'rHAL, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana., have invented new and useful Improvements in Game Boards, of which the following is a specilication.

My present invention pertains to game boards, and it contemplates the provision of a game that requires a certain amoun-t of skill in order toi successfully accomplish the object thereof, and one adapted for use at home as well as at amusement parks and the like.

Other objects and characteristic advan tages will be fully understood from the foli lowing description and claim when the same are read in connection with the drawings accompanying and forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 isa plan view o-f the board and showing same partly in section.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal section on line 2-2 of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a transverse section on line 3-3 of Figure 1.

Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the views of the drawings.

My novel 'board consists of a casing comprising a base 1 and sides 2, as well as upstanding ends 3 and 4 and the said sides 2 are grooved at 5 to receive a glass top 6 that is open in one corner as indicated by 7 whereby the marbles may if desired, be removed from the board by turning the board upside down.

The forward end portion 4f is provided in its center with an opening 8 While arranged in rear of the opening 4l on the base l is a baille 9 and the base l is further provided with the recesses 10 and at the rear of the recesses 10 I provide a channel or gutter 11.

The base 1 is also provided with gered pins 12.

It will be noted that the recesses are provided with small symbols s whereas placed on the board immediately to the side of each recess are symbols S.

The small symbols reading up and down that are in the recesses, spell the word the stag- BOARD.

In the center recess counting from all angles of the recesses I fiXedly secure one marble and hence a player may use only four of his live marloles to spell the word Gotit if he is fortunate enough to drop his marbles in the center row of recesses, both up and down or diagonally of the board. Hence there are four ways in which only four marbles may be used to spell the live lettered word Grotit while there are seven ways in which five marbles are required.

If a player loses control and the ball passes by all of the recesses, it will fall into the gutter at the bottom of the board, and is lost. The ball can only be regained by turning the board upside-down and in doing so he rwill displace `all of the balls he has already lined up. The loss of one marble does not mean the loss of the game as it will be seen that four of the rows require only four marbles, as before set forth. Manifestly the marbles may 1be recovered through opening 8.

It will be manifest from the foregoing that the game is: extremely simple and interesting to play and calculated to excite quite an amount of rivalry among the players.

Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is :f-

In a game board, the combination of a vcasing having a base and side and end boards, an aperture formed in one end board, a cover arranged on the casing and having an opening, a plate formed on the base in rear of the opening of the end portion, pins arranged on the base in rear of the plate, re-

oesses arranged on the base in rear of the pins, a gutter formed in rear of the recesses,

said recesses being provided with symbols and other symbols arranged outside the re- 5 cesses, substantially asend for the prpose set forth.
