PATENT OFFICE.
ISAIAH H. TAYLOR, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
PoRcHasLoon rao'rnoron.
Application filed December 31, 1921.
T all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ISAIAH H. TAYLOR, a
' citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have ina vented. certainnew and useful Improvements in Porch-Floor Protectors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in porch floor protectors, and has for its object to provide a simple, cheap and eficient device to protect the exposed edges of the boards forming the porch floor from warping on account of exposure to the weather.
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth in the following specification and pointed out in detail in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing,- Figure l is a plan view of a porch floor showing my invention applied thereto.
- Figure 2 is a front edge view, partly broken away.
Figure 3 is an end view of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a sectional view, on an enlarged scale, of the edge of the porch and protecting irons.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which'like reference numerals designate like parts through the several views, 1 designates the floor which is formed ofthe usual tongue and groove boards. On the ends of the said boards forming the floor 1 is an angle iron 2 Serial No. 526,367.
one angle of which fits on the top of the boards and the other angle projects downwardly and fits against the outer ends of, and projects slightly below, the boards 1. On the under surface of the boards 1 is a flat metal strip 3 having one edge impinging 40 against, and its lower surface flush with, the downwardly-projecting angle of said angle iron 2. The said angle iron 2 and metal strip 3 are held securely in position by the screws 4 which have their heads countersunk in the upper angle of the angle iron 2 and screw into the metal strip 3.
It will thus be seen that by the use of my present invention the ends of the boards forming the porch, and which are usually exposed to the weather, will be held securely 1n alignment and prevented from warping.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A protector for porch floors comprising an angle iron having one angle resting on the top of the boards forming the floor and the other angle projecting downwardly and resting against the ends of the said boards, said downwardly projecting angle extend- 7 ing below the ends of said boards, a metal strip disposed under the ends of the said boards and means for securing the angle iron and metal strip in clamping position on the ends of said boards.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ISAIAH 'Ht TAYLOR.
