TES
PATENT MORRIS w; WICKHAM, or BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
NURSING-BOTTLE HOLDER.
Application filed November 14, 1921.
New York, have invented new anduseful Improvements in Nursing-Bottle Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a nursing bottle holder and strap which is applicable to baby carriages, buggies, bassinettes, cribs, &c.
Its object is to provide a simple and inexpensive device of this character which can be readily applied to and removed from baby carriages and the like, and which can be swung out of the way when not in use, and which, when in use, reliably holds the bottle in place.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the improvement. Figure 2 is an enlarged longitudinal section thereof on line 2-2, Fig. 1. Figures 3, t and 5 are transverse sections on the correspondingly numbered lines in Fi 2.
bimilar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
For the purpose of illustration, the improvement is shown as applied to a baby carriage 10, represented by dotted lines in Fig. 1.
Arranged transversely at the head end of the carriage is a rigid child-retaining and bottle supporting member or bar 11 which is suitably attached at its ends to brackets 12, 12 provided with screw shanks 13 which pass through openings in the side walls of the carriage, butterfly nuts 14 being provided for removably securing said brackets in place. One end of this bar is preferably hinged to its corresponding bracket, as shown at 15, to permit it to swing in a horizontal plane, while the other end thereof is adapted to be removably seated in an upwardly opening recess 16 formed in the corresponding bracket 12 and locked in position by a rotatable cam disk '17 fulcrumed on the adjacent end of said bar and interlocking with a downwardly-facing shoulder 18 formed on the inside face of said lastnamed bracket, as shown in Figs. 2 and 5.
Adjustable lengthwise of the supporting Serial No. 514,926.
This improved nursing bottle holder enables the bottle' to be adjusted to any desired position transversely of the carriage, and the universal joint connection of the bottleholding section 20 with the main section 19 permits the bottle to be moved easily to any position to suit the comforts of the child in nursing. Furthermore, the hinged supporting bar 11 serves the additional function of a safety strap to prevent the child from falling out of the carriage. Being rigid, this bar or strap prevents the bottle-holder from tilting or sagging after being adjusted to suit the child, thus reliably holding the bottle in place.
If desired, the slot 25 in the supporting bar may be made longer to receive two bottle holders for accommodating twins.
I claim as my invention:
A device of the character described, comprising a pair of brackets adapted to be attached to opposite Walls of a baby-carriage or the like, each of said brackets being provided on its outer side with a screw-shank carrying a clamping nut, one of said brackets having on its inner side a substantially upright pivot-pin, a combined bottle-support and child 'retaining member comprising a rigid cross bar mounted at one end on said pin to swing in a substantially horizontal plane and provided at its free end with means for securing it to the other bracket, and a bottle-holding device mounted on said cross bar.
