MOVABLE SIGN,
Application :filed March 8, 1923.
To @ZZ whom it may concern.'
Be it known that 1, Bnoons C. Knnnnii, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bangor, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a nevv` and useful Movable Sign, of which the 'tollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to movable advertising signs.
Another object ot the invention is to provide an attention attracting device connected to be operated by a Wind mill.
Another object is to provide a simple and eiiicient connection between the Windmill and the member actuated thereby.
Vith the 'foregoing and other objects in View which Will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the coni bination and arrangement ot parts and in the details of construction hereinafter de scribed and claimed, it being understood that. changes in the precise embodiment oit the invention herein disclosed may be made Within the scope of what is claimed Without departing trom the spirit oit the invention.
In the accompanying' drawings Figure 1 represents a Yfront elevation of a sign constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a section talen on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a detail section ta ten on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In the embodiment illustrated, a Wind mill 1 is shown mounted on a suitable supporting structure and equipped with a wind Wheel 2 connected to reciprocate a rod 3 which is accomplished in a manner ordinary With mechanism ot this character, a disk 21 being here shown iixed to the shaft oi' the Wheel and having a crank pin 22 which operates in a cross head 23 carried by rod 3.
A, board 10 is mounted in front ot the supporting structure oi" the Wind mill, being preferably7 secured to the frame thereoin in any desired manner. Mounted on this board 10 is the representation otl any device desired to be advertised, or to Which attention is desired to be attracted. In the instance shown, a safety razor 11 is the object to which attention is designed to be called,
Serial No. 623,708.
and which is shown grasped in the hand 1Q of ar man, said hand being carried by an arm 13 pivoted at 111- to form an elbow joint whereby it is connected with the upper arm 15 pivoted at 16 to the shoulder.
The board 10 has a slot 17 formed therein which is designed to register with the reciprocatory rod 3 ot' the Wind mill and through which extends a pin 18 which projects 1aterally from said rod and Which is designed to operate in the slot 417 on the reciprocation of rod 3.
This pin 18 is connected With the Wrist of the arm 13 in any suitable manner, a plate 19 being here shown riveted or otherwise secured to the arm forming a Wear plate and having an aperture 20 through which the pin 18 extends. From the above description it Will be obvious that when the rod 3 is reciprocated by the wheel 2, it Will move the pin 1S and cause the arm 13 to pivot at the elbow 111 and at the shoulder 16 imparting motion to the razor 11 Which is positioned to move over the representation of the tace ot a man to give the appearance of a man shaving.
1While this device is shown connected to demonstrate the use of a razor, obviously, it may be used in connection With any other article to Which attention is desired to be attracted, the movement of the arm 13 calling attention to passers-by of the sign.
The operation of this device by a Wind Wheel, provides for economy in operation.
Various changes in the form, shape, proportion and other minor details ot' construction may be made Without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the claimed invention.
claim :n
T he combination svith a Wind mill having a reciprocatory rod; ot an upright board located adjacent said rod and having a slot arranged parallel With said rod, an arm pivoted at one end on said board, another arm pivoted at one end to the tree end ot said first mentioned arm and carrying an object to be eX- hibited, a laterally extending pin carried by said rod and projecting through said slot and engaged with said object carrying arm intermediate the ends thereof, in a plane above that of the pvot of the first mentioned my oWn7 I have hereto affixed my signature arm, the pivot of thle second mentioned am; in the presence of two Witnesses. being in a plane be 0W that of the pivot o the other arm and of the pin Carried by the BROOKS CHARLES KLEBER' 5 rod whereby the reoiproeation of the rod Witnesses:
will operate the pivotally connected arms. RUSSELL J. BUZZARD,
