IMPROVEMENT IN COTTON-BALE TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 119,531, dated April 7, 1874; application filed y March 11, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS F. SHERRILL, of VVadesborough, in the county of Anson and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cotton- Bale Ties; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, andexact description thereof, reference being had to the accoml'ianying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. V
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an open ring for connecting the ends of a band or strap of iron, such as is used in banding bales of cotton, as Will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the saine, I will now proceed to describe l its construction and operation, referring to the ,annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a plan View, and Fig. 2 a perspective View, of my invention.
A represents an ordinary band or strap of iron, the ends of which are turned under, forining loops B B. These loops are connected by means of a wrought-iron ring, G, made open, in such a manner that the ends of the metal, instead of being united together, overlap each of the loops B will t, so as to prevent the rin g from turning, and consequently from coming loose, for it is onlyT by turning that it can be removed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
