Be it known that I, EDWARD Cana, sulr iect of the King ot' Great Britain. residing at East Coast Road, Milford, Auckland, Dominion of New Zealand, have invented a new and useful later Heater, ot which the following is a speciication.
This invention relates t0 a water heater of the type in which the heating agency for the water consists in a circulatory system, such as a pipe circuit connected with a water chamber and passing through a heating zone of any of the known and approved classes generally used in these systems, as
for instance, around the burners of a gas stove, through the oven of such a stove, or through electrically heated appliances.
The invention consists in a special construction of'appliance by which a tank is formed having aheating chamber within its bottom, and a'supply chamber in its top, divided o from one another by an insulating air space or chamber, such heating chamber being supplied from the supply chamber as water is drawn oft from it, so that it always remains full. The supply chamber may itself be kept full by any of the automatic means well known in the art, or may be charged by hand from time to time, as required.
The heating chamber is provided with a draw off tap leading from near its top and is connected up with the circulating pipe system in the usual way.
This construction is shown in the accompanying drawing, which is a general sectional elevation of the whole heater.
As illustrated, the heater is formed by a single structure of a )proved size and shape, but preferably of t e cylindrical urn like form shown. This is divided ott in its height to form a large upper chamber A and a smaller lower chamber B at the bottom, and an intermediate air sealed chamber (l of relatively small area.
The upper chamber A is connected with the lower chamber B by means of a pipe D internally disposed and extending through from the bottom of the chamber A to near the bottom ot the chamber B. The lower chamber is provided with a draw ott tap E opening from it at a. point near its top.

is charged with water, the chamber B `will he lilled through the connection D and will be always kept full, as the withdrawal ot water through the tap E, will result in water from the chamber replacing that drawn ott.
The chamber A is connected up by the pipes F with the circulating heating unit of whatever class employed, such pipes being disposed to extend from the bottom and pass into the top ot such chamber in the well known convection system, so that the water in this chamber is heated thereby and may be drawn off from the top as required. The air space C then acts as an insulating space to protect the hot water in the chamber B at its hottest zone from loss of heat by radiation and through actual contact with the cold water in the bottom of the supply chamber A. o The supply chamber A is provided with a removable top cover A to allow for it being filled by hand, as required. Or it may be connected to a storage tank through a coin nection H and the supply automatically maintained by any of the automatic controls employed in the art.
A vent pipe G is provided to extend up from the top of the chamber B, through the chamber to above the water level therein. This will allow for the escape of any steam generated in the heating chamber and for the overtlow of any ebullition oi water, into the said chamber a.
I claim A water heater formed by a vessel divided oft to provide a supply chamber in the top, a heating chamber in the bottom, and an air chamber situated between them, such heating chamber being connected to a water heating circulatory system, a pipe connection extending from the bottom oit the supply chamber to near the botom ot the heating chamber, and a draw otl:1 tap opening from the top of the heatingchamber, substantially as specified.
