. D J 1 l l exence wll be had 9:0 me mcompzyn an @Ee Timm Qian the upper edge of the exterior part so that after the vertical parte of the molding space C is filled with the molding material, the horizontal space formed hy plates l2 is filled so as to form the bottom of the casket. Before starting the molding action the mold is placed upon a base 13 which encloses the bottom of the molding space, Af ter the cast has set the mold is turned over so as to expose the interior part of the form. The hooked ends of bars 14 are then inserted in holes 15 formed in the horizontal bars 5 and the turn buckles 16, which connect the pairs of bars together are rotated to shorten the pairs of bars to contract the interior part. The turn buckles of the bars which connect the sides of the form together are first manipulated so as to draw the two sides towards each other. As will be seen from Figure'Q the cross bars l1 have their ends spaced from the plates 4 of the sides so as to permit this movement of the sides and I place strips 17 of cardboard or the like between the abutting surfaces of the corner pieces and side and end pieces to permit moveinentof the side pieces and the wrner pieces. 1t will of course be understood that the pins are removed from the staples before the turn buckles are moved. After this movement of the sides they -can be lifted out and then the turn buckle arrangement for the end pieces can be put in place to draw the end pieces and corner pieces away from' the ends of the molded article. ln order to facilitate this movement of the end pieces and corner pieces l slightly bevel each corner piece, as at 18, so as'to make the ends of the interior part of the mold of less length imaooe than the Width of the casket. After these end pieces have been moved away from the ends of the casket they can be removed and the cross pieces ll andthe plates l2 can be taken out. the exterior part of the form can then be removed by simply removing the pins to permit the parts to be separated.
This mold will form a casket in one piece with smooth Walls, the upper edgeo which is thickened and provided with an interior as none of the parts thereof are destroyed l in removing the form from the cast.
lt is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of .my invention will be readily apparent.
l desire it to be understood that I 'may make changes in the construction and inthe combination and arrangement of the several parte, provided that such changes fallmv'vithin the scope of the appended claim.
What claim is A mold of the class described comprising interior and exterior members, each meinber consisting of side and end pieces and corner pieces, said side and end pieces having recesses therein for receiving parts ot the corner pieces, lugs at the ends of the side and end pieces and said pieces having notches in their ends adjacent the lugs, staples on the corner pieces engagi said notches and pins for engaging the stap es and resting against the lugs f In testimony whereof Ti. aix my si ature.
