Be it known that 1Vnsin RAYNoviToii lxozLorF, a citizen of the United States, and
resident of the city of New Yorlgborough of Manhattan, county ofNew York, and State of New York, have inventeda-new and Improvedv Garment Supporter, of which the followingris a full, clear, a-nd'eXa-ct description.
lVy invention relates to a' garmentsupporter, and aims to providecertain new and useful improvements in connection with devices of this character as heretofore placedY upon the market.
More particularly my present invention raims to provide aQcommercially practical supporter which will permit of the utilizing of Suspenders, underneath the shirt, and in' such a manner that they'will support the trousers without beingvisible, thus incor porating the sightly appearance of a belt with the eficiency of Suspenders.y Y
A further object of this invention is the provision of a supporter which may be` economically manufactured and, in which a general structure will be provided which will render the saine capable of beingutilized by persons of various statures.`
Further objects of this invention will appear in the annexed specification takenin connection with the drawings which latter present one practical embodiment of my invention,'and in which; Y
Figure 1 shows a figure of a person and indicating in dotted lines thereonthefapplication of my invention.
Figure 2 is a partly fragmentary sectional 'l side View taken along the line 2-2 of Fig-V ure v3. K f
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional View taken alongtheline-B-S and inthedirection of the arrows indicated in Figure 2.
Figures 4, 5 and 6 are detail views of the members providing the supporter and showing the same detached, and Y Figure 7 is a sectional view taken along the line 7-7 of Figure 1. Y
Referring now more particularly to Figures 1 to 3 it will be seen that the reference numeral 10 indicatestrousers which are to be supported, and 11 a shirt associated with the body of the wearer, it being noted that Suspenders 12 are utilized for Vsupporting the trousers, these Suspenders lying between the body of the wearer and the inner face of the shirt 11. l
'With-a view-ofproviding means, which: will serveto prevent any great amount of,
relative movement of: the suspenders12 with respect'to the shirt 11i-it willbe= seenA refer/ ence being had to Figures `land 7 that ,aj number of guide ,strips Y13 are provided atYV the vshoulder, portions of the-.,shirt, other strips being securedI to the innerfaceg of the,`
shirt and Arear of the shirt.' Thesuspenders pass through -thesesstri'ps and obviously-this y construction, together withthe attachingV of ,1,
the outer ends ofthe suspendersto thei shirt in themannernhereinafter more fully de- `scribed,`.will prevent thesuspenders from shifting or turning aside from the factthat it willvenable the'v same-to remain `on the shirt whenrthe latter is removed from the body. v y v l .The supporting devicev itself; embodies taching element. Referring to the lformer', reference being had to Figures 2,. 3 and 4, it'will be seen that the same includesa pref,- erably oblong body portion 1lik which is constructed of -wire,or other suitable material,
and is formed with a bent part 15,'at apoint/ preferably intermediate ,its ends, said bentl part providing a` retainingmember forth@ second member ofthe suspending element. rIvhis member includes a body also preferably of a single piece of wire, the ends of which are .bent to provideza hook 16 adapted to co,-
operate Vwith the bent portion l5, theibody" of said wire beingbentftoprovide* adiamond shaped` element 17 t l Withjregard to the attaching element, referencebeing had to Figures 2, 35'and6 itl will be seenlthat the same also comprises 'an In practice, the suspending element, in-
cluding the bodyr portion 14 is attached to yI5 two? elements, to wit, a suspending andV at` the suspender 12 by passing one of the ends of the latter thro-ugh 'the loop formed by the body portion thereof, as in Figure 3, and the attaching member, 'including thefbody portion 18 is associated with the waist band of the trousers by stitching co-opefrating with the reduced .portions 2() or any other suitable retaining'means, it being noted in this connection that the curvature of the body 18 is such as to conform to the waist Y band ofthe'b'ody of the trousers'lO. In this' i connection it is alsoy to be noted that the.
hook 19 is arranged so as to extend towards the waist band of the'trousers, which by virtue of the fact that the trousers band isv constantly being pressed to a point directly underlying the hook 19, prevents any accidental detachment of these portions from the 'elements 17 incident to a movement of the body'l'- yoperation of VYthe suspending element with theattaching element, and to also provide meanswhich will serve to permit of the use ofthe device with trousers, having waist, bandsof varying heights, attention is in-k acentv the hook 19 oit the attaching element.
In this connection it is to be noted that the peculiar shape of the memberv 16 is yto be predicated to the fact that by utilizing an element of this nature, the wearer may lreadily pass the same through any of the openings 21, desired, but by'virtue of this shape, any accidentalwithdrawal or' the members 17 through the openings 21 with which it is associated, will be precluded, attention being invited to Figure 2.
Thus a supporting member is provided which will primarily provide a medium permitting or1 the ready attachment and detachment of a nether garment, with the Same, the structure utilized being capable Of being manufactured at an extremely nominal ligure, it being further seen that by means of the strips 13 no stress will be felt by the wearer in that the Suspenders are permitted to adjust themselves with Arespect to the body. Y e
Furthermore a supporting member con- Now witha view of permittingof the 'col structed in accordance with my invention will cause the shirt tolie farY better-than has heretofore been thecase where either belts or Suspenders were utilized, in that the suspender 12 includes vtheA strips 13 Vof the shirt-11, thus being retained in place, and also holding the shirt. properly, aside from the fact that the suspender againcooperates with the shirt at the openings V21. o
rlhus the objects, set forth in the vpreamble orY this specification are accomplished, and it will be appreciated thatmoditications oi Astructure might readily beY resorted to without in the least departing from the scope o my claims, which are;
1. A garment'supporter includinga shirt, a suspending element and attaching element, said suspending element being adapted to be secured to the end cfa suspender, said attaching element being secured to a nether garment, Vand adjacent the fwaist band of the same, and strips' secured `to` said shirt for overlying said suspender, said suspender` passing between said stripsV and shirt.
2. 'A garment supporter including. a sus-- pending element and attaching element, said suspending element vbeing adapted to besecured to the end of' a suspender, said attachying element being secured to a'nether 'garment Aand adjacent the waist band of theY same, a shirt adapted to over lie said suspender, said shirt being formed with a series oi' openings through oneof whichv a portion of said suspending element is adapted to pass. v f 8. A garment supporter including a suspending element and attaching element, said suspending element being adapted to'be 'secured to the end of. a suspender, said attaching element being securedV to a nether garment and adjacent the waist band of the same, a shirt adapted to over lie'saidfsuspender, said shirt being formed with a series of openingsthrough one of which a portionr of said suspending element is adaptedfto pass', and means forming a part oit said suspending element for preventing `an accidental retraction of said part through said opening.
