Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,370, dated January 13, 1874; application led December 23, 1873.

rlhe nature .of my invention relates to animprovement in steam-boxes for steaming lumber; and it consists in making the boxes in sections, so that they `can be increased and decreased in size at pleasure.

a represents an ordinary rectangular box or chamber of any desired dimensions, which has an opening through its top for the admission of exhaust or live steam through the pipe c,

and one or more openings, d, through its bottom for the escape of the steam after it has acted upon the lumber placed upon the car on the track e.` One end of this box is provided with a door, g, while the other end is sealed up air-tight; or, if so desired, both ends may have a door, either of a single thickness,

or they may have air-chambers within them,

closing the openings forv the escape of theV steam by means of a slide orcover, the `steam can be sent in any desired direction.

llaving thus described my invention, I claimi l. A box for steaming lumber composed of sections, so that the size of the box or chamber can be increased or decreased at will, as shown.
