Re it known that l, JOHN VILLIAM Rroir Anns, subject of the King ot Great Britain, ol' l5) llvy House Lane, Coseley, near Bilston, in the county of Stafford, England, have in rented certain new and useful Improvements in Sand or like Mixingy Machines, of which the following,` is a specification.
This invention relates to a new or improved sand or like mixingmachine, and refers more particularly to a machine adapted for mixing sand and oil, or several kinds ot' sand, ,'lior use in foundry and like work.`
The objects oit my invention are to provide an improved machine for this purpose which is simple and effective invoperation and comparatirely` cheap to iuanuiacture, and by which 'the sand and oil are thoroughly incorporated with a minimum expendi-l ture ot power.

It hopper, or the like, is provided on the trough or casing through which sand yand oil, or different kinds of sand in the required proportions, are introduced, and thesha'ft carrying the blades is rotated by any suitable means in such a direction that material `l'allinff; upon the blades is carried from both ends towards the centre of the casino:` The two streams oi material meeting at the centre, or other point, and impinging upon each other are forced or thrown upwards againstl the sides of the trough,`or casing', oragainst suitable bal'lie platesV provided therein in a space above the blades, and tall back` again on to the blades which carry the material back towards the centre ont the casing.
By the repetition oli this impinging action oi the two streams the material isvery rapidly and thoroughly mixed, and, when the desired degree ot incorporation is attained, the mixed material is discharged through an opening at the bottom of the trough or casing which is normally closed by a slidingonhinged cover, or the like, the rotation of the. shatt being maintained until thc whole ofthe material is discharged.
