CARTRIDGE FUSE.

Be it known that l, HENRY T. BUssMANN, a. citizen of the United States, residing' at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri.I have inl 5 vented certain new and useful Improvements in Cartridge Fuses. ot which the tollowing;- is a clear, full, and exact description,
such as will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same. l The object of my invention is to provide a fuse that possesses great mechanical strength to withstand heavy overloads and short circuits, and can be made at a. lowk cost. These and other advantages ot' my u) invention will be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. l is a longitudinal view, with casing partly broken away. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal view at right angles to that shown in Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a terminal. Fig. 4 shows two fuse links attached to the terminal between which the pin is positioned. Fig. 5 shows a terminal end adapted to be held against sidewise movement bythe pin and Fig, 6 shows the terminal so formed that with the link attached, the pin serves to prevent sidewise movement of the terminal.
In the drawings, 4 is a fuse link attached by means of bolt 5 or any other suitable means, to the terminal 6. 7 is a rivet passing through the tube for holding the cap 8 upon the casing 9. l0 is a stamping; attached on the terminal 6.

Likewise, where only one link is used, the stamping` 10 can he reliminated hy forming the end of the terminal. so that a. portion thereoit is on the ,i side of the rivet opposite the side the 'fuso 4, link is attached as in Fig. 5, or the terminal may have its inside end shaped to conform to the shape of' the rivet and overlap on both sides of the rivet as in Fig. 6 to prevent sidewise movement of the terminal.

From this it will be seen that l have provided substantial means 'tor holding` the caps on the casing and for holding the terminals against any movement. and that l have accomplished this with minimum number oit parts. lt is obvious that instead ot the bolt l may use a rivet or a projection for holding' the fuse link to the terminal and that l may in that. case provide projections on the terminal or other means for holding the terminal against outward movement. lt is also obvious that instead of the rivet. 7,
l may use a bolt passing through the casing, and in this wav make the fuse ot the renewable type.
l claim as my invention:

2. In a Jfuse. a casing, a cap, a terminal, means for preventing the outward movement of the terminal, and a pin extending through the casing and adjacent to a terminal surface whereby the inward movement ot the terminal is prevented.
