HAB/EY IfB. PINE AND GLAUD 17x GESIt EYfOF PHOENIX, ARIZONA.
oorer innn sanitizer man #Application filed September To all inhom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HARRY B. PINE and CLAUD W. CIsNnY, both citizens of the United States, both residing at Phoenix, in the county of Maricopa and State of Ari- Zona, have invented new and useful Combined Cabinets and Tables, ofwhich the following is a specification.
This invention relates to combined receptacles and cabinets and tables, or what is generally known as carryalls for containing articles of food, cooking utensils and the like and carried on the running board or other portions of motor driven vehicles, and has for one of its objects to improve the construction and increase the etficiency and utility of devices of this character. 7
Another object of this invention is to provide a device of this character including a cabinet or receptacle having an open front,
a closure for the front, lateral extension leaves attached to the closure and foldable upon the same whennot in use, and supporting cleats and legs foldable upon the closure when not in use.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims, and in the drawings representing the preferred embodiment of the invention;-
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved device in open position,
Figure 2 is an elevation of. the improved device with the parts closed,
Figure 3 is a section on the line 33 of Fig. 2,
Figure 4 is an end elevation of the lower part of the device with the parts arranged as in Figure 1.
The improved device comprises a casing or cabinet represented as a whole at 10 with the front open and provided with a closure 11 hingedly united at 12 to the lower or bottom member of the cabinet, and provided with a suitable fastening device such as a hasp 13 and staple 14:, the latter to receive a lock or other holding device. Hinge'dly united at 15 to the side edges of the closure member 11, are extensions or leaves 16, the leaves being foldable upon the inner face of the closure when not in use as indicated in Figure 3, and materially increasing the .12, was. Serial no. 587,769.
width of the closure when disposed in alinement therewith, as shown in Figure 1.
The front edges of the side members of the cabinet 10 are recessed as shown at 17 to receive the hinged or outer edges of the leaves 16 when the member 11 is closed as indicated in Figure 3.
Pivoted at 18 to the member 11 at each side are cleat members 19 adapted to be distended to supportthe leaves 16 when open, as shown by dottedlines in Figure 2, and by full lines in Figure 1.
Hinged at 20 to the outer end of each of the cleats 19 is a supporting leg 21, the legs being foldable against the cleats whenthe latter are folded against the closure member 11, and when the cleats are also folded, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, or disposed at right angles to the cleats to form supporting legs, as shown in Figure 4.
Keepers 22 are attached to the member 11 to receive the cleats 19 and legs 21 when folded or withdrawn, as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
By this means a conveniently arranged combined cabinet and table .is' produced,
which will be found very useful for parties travelling by automobiles, or excursion or v picnic parties, and can be supported upon any portion of the vehicle, but, as before stated, will generally be supported upon one of the running boards, a portion of which is indicated at 24.
The cabinet may be of any required size or of any suitable material.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed in the drawings and set forth in the specification, but it will be understood that modifications within the scope of the claimed invention may be made in the construction without departing from the principle of the invention or sac ificing any of its advantages. v I
. Having thus describedthe invention what is claimed as new is:
1. In a device of the class described, a casing open at one side, a closure for said open side movably connected thereto, a leaf member hingedly connected to each side edge of said closure and foldable upon the inner face of the same, cleat elements pivoted at one end to the closure and adapted to be moved into position beneath the leaves when distended, a leg member hinged to the free end of each of the cleats, and foldable upon the same When the latter are in Withdrawn position, and keepers attached to the lower face of the closure in position to receive the legs and the cleats When folded.
2. In a device of the class described, a
casing open at one side, a closure for said open side movably connected thereto, a leaf member hingedly connected to each side edge of said closure and toldable upon the inner face of the same, cleat elements pivoted at one end to the closure and adapted to be moved into position beneath the leaves When distended, and a leg member hinged to the free end of each of the cleat elements, and foldable upon the cleats When the latter are in Withdrawn position.
In testimony WhereoflWe have hereunto afiixed our signatures.
CLAUD W. CISNEY. HARRY B. PINE.
