EDWARD BUBSTOW, OF HORSHAM, ENGLAND.
IMPROVEMENT IN FASTENERS F OR MEETING RAILS OF-SASHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,655, dated November 18, 1873;" application filed October 10, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
have invented a new and Improved Sash- Fastener; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawing, forming a part of this specification.
The invention relates to the ordinary sashfastener which prevents the window from being opened, and consists in means whereby the introduction of a blade or instrument between the sashes, in order to unlock them, may be efiectually prevented.
Figure -1 is a perspective view, showing the latch closed. Fig. 2 is a perspective View, showing the latch open.
A B are plates, placed respectively near the bottom of one and on top of the other sash. On the former is pivoted the usual springlatch G, which is secured by turning it in the catch 0 on the plate B. To the edge of plate .A I hinge a plate, D, which turns over and covers the opening between the sashes or between the plates A B, thus rendering it inipossible for any one to thrust a blade up between the sashes from the outside, and with it I unlock them.
In order to carry the plate down whenever locked.
