IMPROVEMENT IN TOBACCO-HANGERS.
g Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,503, dated November 11, 1873; application file d July. 30, 1873.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, DE WITT C. BURR and JOHN A. JOHNSON, both of Cromwell, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful lImprovement in Tobacco-Hanger; and we do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in
Figure l, a plan or top view; Fig. 2, the manner of arranging the hooks on the lath, and in Fig. 3, a transverse section of an arrn on line w x.
This invention relates to a device for hanging green tobacco for the purpose of curing and it consists in two arms or branches extending from a base7 the said arms made sharp or angular upon their inner side, and the base formed or provided with a screw or spike, by which the hanger may be attached to the lath, `and with a spike projecting from the base between the arms.
A is the base, from which two arms, B C, extend forward, and distant from each other only so far as to embrace the stock of green t0- bacco; and in order that the stock may be easily forced betweelithearlns, they are made sharp or angular upon theirinner side, as seen in Fig. 3. The base is provided with a screwspike, D, or other equivalent means for attaching the hangers to the lath. These hangers are arranged, as seen in Fig. 2, upon the laths E, each hanger to receive its stock of green tobacco.
In order to insure the secureholding of the stock, a spike, F, projects from the base out between the arms, and enters the stock when it is forced between the arms.
We clairn- The herein-described tobacco-hanger, consisting of the base A, the two arms B C, made angular upon the inside, and the spike F.
