Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l43,7792, dated October il, 1873; application tiled June 19, 1873.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD T. TAYLOR, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain Iniprovement in Pantaloons and Drawers, of which the following is' a speciiicatiou:
My invention consists in forming short vents or openings at the sides or hip portion of pantaloons or drawers, and. placing a buckle on the hind part and a tab on the front; the object of which is to keep the pants or drawers properlybalanced, preventing` them from drawing` across the knees, and sliding down off the 'hips when stooping down or riding in a saddle.
In theuse of the old style of strap and buckle on the seat or back of pantaloons, considerable annoyance is experienced when the width at the top is contracted by such means,'as all the of the pants is furnished with tabs T andv T', and the back part with buckles B and B', which keep the pants well balanced, and prevent their drawing across the knees or sliding down from oif the hips. v
The pants or drawers being thus adjusted at that Vportion which rests on the body, it is at a place less sensitive to pressure than the' front, the tabs having equal iniluen'ce on both back and front, while at the same time all the rec'eptibility necessary for the rotundity of the hips is secured. n
A strip of facing, F, of the same material as the pantaloons, or other suitable material, is
attached to the inside, or forms part of the pantaloons, so as to cover the vents or openings, and prevent the under-garments showin g on the outside.
What I claim as my invention is- The combination of the side openings or Vents O and O', tabs or straps T and T', ad- `justing -buckles B and B, and facing-strip F, all combined and arranged to operate substantially in the manner and for the purpose herein. shown and described.
