Be it known that I, JAMES C. DILDINE, a
` citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cameron, in the county of Clinton and State of Missouri, haveinvented a new and useful Brick Mold, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to brick molds and its principal object is to provide a. mold which may be readily knocked down and set up. v
A further object of this invention is to provide a knocked down mold for forming bricks or other rectangular objects which may be released to permit the mold to collapse after the bricks are formed and the latter. released Jtherefrom.
lVith the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, -construction and arrangement of parts and 1 operations to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Referring in detail to the drawing wherein similar characters of reference designate similar parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 designates the frame in its entirety and which ycomprises a bottom 6 .supported by sills 7 at its ends and end bars 8, each of which carries a side bar 9 which extends longitudinally of thel longitudinal edges of the bottom 6.
A plurality of blocks or clamping members is designated at 10 and are provided with registering transverse openings 11 at its ends. Passing through these openings 11 is a band or looplQ upon which the blocks or clamping members 10 are adapted for sliding movement. As shown in Figures 1 to 3, the blocks 10 are arranged upon the bottom 6, and held between the opposed longitudinal faces of the blocks or clamping members 10 are partit-ions or plates 13. Disposed upon the bottom 6 adjacent the ends Serial No. 475,767.
of the frame and engaging the endmost blocks or clamping members 10 are end walls 14.
In order to hold the blocks 10 in clamping engagement with the partitions 13, a transverse piece 15 is arranged bet-ween one of the end bars 8 and the adjacent end wall 14, and engaged between the transverse piece 15 and end wall 141 is a wedge 16.
lVith the parts thus assembled, the plastic composition is placed between the partitions 13 until the bricks or other rectangular objects are formed. After the bricks or other rectangular objects are formed, the wedge 16 is removed and the clamping members or blocks 10 moved away from each other to release the partitions and bricks or other rectangular objects from the mold.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to wthout departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secure and protect by Letters Patent of the United States,
1. A mold comprising a base, a plurality of clamping blocks, a flexible element eX- tending through the blocks at their ends and upon which the blocks are capable of sliding.y partitions disposed between the opposed longitudinal faces of the blocks, and mea-ns for holding the blocks into clamping engage ment with the partitions.
2. A mold comprising a base, a pluralityV of clamping blocks, a flexible element eX- tending through the blocks at their ends and upon which the blocks are capable of sliding, partitions disposed between the opposed longitudinal faces of the blocks, and wedging means for holding the clamping blocks into clamping engagement with the parti tions..
3. VA mold comprising a bottom, side walls therefor and removable end walls, a plurality of clamping blocks arranged upon the bottom, a flexible loop passing loosely through the blocks at the ends thereof, vertical partitions held between the clamping blocks, and a wedge engaging one of the end walls and holding the clamping blocks into engagement with the partitions.
