CHILD'S AMUSEMENT-BAR DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARK N. SULLIVAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Edison, in the county of Kern and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Amusement- Bar Devices, of which the following 1s a specification.

My invention relates to an educational and amusement toy device.

One important object is to provide a device of this nature having one or more pendant objects which are capable of longitudinal movement as well as swinging movement through manipulation by the child, in order to minimize the danger of breaking when jerked; to provide each suspending member as a flexible element passing loosely through a support and having an object at each end;

0 to provide the article in knock-down form and to preferably provide a frame arch to suspend the flexible element and objects and mounting means with which the frame is detachably associated; to provide a device which will eliminate the dropping of toys or removing of them from the reach of the child.

With the above and additional objects and advantages in view, and which will appear hereinafter the invention has been embodied in one preferred form as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. To this end brackets C are provided having t'angs 9 with holes 10 therein through which screws or other fastening means may pass to secure the brackets to a high chair, the tray thereon, a table or other desired support. The lower ends of arms 8 are removably placed in sockets 11 of the brackets. Frame A may be braced, if desired, as by struts 12, disposed at any desired angle or position and removably fastened as by screws 13 to arms 8 and to the support.

At each end of the element B an object D may be fastened. These objects are preferably childs toys of well known figures, either for amusement or educationalpurposes, and as shown, may be a ball, a teething ring, a bird and a doll. Of course any number of elements B may be used in order to enable employment of the desired number of objects, and to meet the requirements of the age of the child.

Due to the knock-down construction, the brackets C are ermanently attached to the supports and the arch and the struts are attachedand detached at will.

For example suppose the device is attached to a high chair, particularly to the tray. The infant will amuse himself and be quieted by playing with the objects and the cannot be dropped on the floor or mislai out of reach of thechild, they can be set in motion either up or downor horizontally by manipulation of the child. Attention is particularlyfcalled to the fact that the elements slip loosely through the openings 7 so that ifthe elements are 'erked by the infant, it will yield rather than reak, as would be the case if the connection at the bridge 6 were fixed.
