Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
` FELIX REIFSOHNEIDER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN PICTURE-FRAM ES.
i Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,464, dated October 7, 1873; application led June 28,*1873.
To all whom it may concern: i l
Be it known that I, FELIX REIFscHNErDER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Picture- Frame, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a round or oval frame, of wood, metal, or other material, covered with velvet or other cloth, and the cover secured at the edges by ornamental spunmetal bands, in addition to being glued to the surface of the metal orwood portions.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved frame, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken on the line x x.
A is the Wood, metal, or other frame; B, the velvet or other fine-cloth cover; D,the outer spun-metal band,` and E the inner one. The frame is made oval or round, order to allow of using spun-metal bands at the edges, for fastening and hiding the edges of the cloth 5 also, for the ornamentation of the frame. The cloth is stretched over the fronaof the frame,
glued or cemented to it, and then cut out at the center and trimmed oi at the edges, and then the metal bands are applied, said bands being first spun up on suitable formers; or they may be spun directly on the frame, which may itself be used for a former. The outer band is fastened with nails, and the inner one may be, if required; but it is so shaped as not to need them, and the outer one may also be so shaped, if required. The front face of the frame A may be Wrought in any approved form.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentr The combination, in a round or oval pictureframe, of the part A, of wood or other material, the cloth cover B, and the spun-metal rings or bands D and E, substantially as spec iiied. s
FELIX REIFSGHNEIDER. Witnesses:
T. B. MosHER, ALEX. F. ROBERTS.
