ABRAHAM S. MILLER, OF NOTTINGHAM, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-DRIERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,7 14, dated September 9, 1873; application filed July 1, 1873. i
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM S. MILLER, of Nottingham, in the county of Wells and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Briers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference beinghad to the accompanyingdrawings, which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in clothes-driers; and it consists in a standard having a number of uprights or braces pivoted to it at the top, each brace havingpivoted t6 it a number of arms, upon which the clothes are to be hung, having their inner ends united together by means of cords, as will be more fully described hereafter.
The accompanying drawing represents my invention.
1 represents the standard, havin g an upright 0r brace, 2, pivoted to each side, and which project outward at a slight angle, so as to support and hold the standard in posit-ion. Pivoted to each brace are a number of arms, 3,
upon which the clothes are to be hung, and which have their inner ends united together by a cord, 5, the lower ends of which are fastened to any suitable catches 6 on the standard 1.
The standard and braces having been placed in position, by pulling upon the cords and fastening their ends to the catches, the arms will be brought into a horizontal position, ready for use. When no longer needed, the whole drier may be closed up into a very small bundle and set away.
Having thus described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v The combination of the standard 1, braces 2, arms 3, and cords 5, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 24th day of June, 1873.
ABRAHAM S. MILLER.
