GAME. APPLICATION man APR. 2s. 1921.

SUN PARLOR narran stares rarest orricaf WILLIAM lNASHINGHION AYRE, OIE* BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.`
GAME.
Application led April 26,
T0 c'ZZ who/m it may concern:
Be it known that I, Illini/IAM IVIAYRE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful `Improvements in Games; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the yart to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to games and has more particular reference to an educational electrical game. Y
The objects of the invention are to provide a gaine which will promote interest in electrical devices; to employ electrical terms and representations of electrical devices; to make the player associate the electrical terms with the representation of the electrical devices; to associate the terms `and devices with appropriate rooms of a house to permit the game to be easily understood, to
render Vit enjoyable as well as instructive, to obtain a structure which is cheaply manufactured and attractive in appeai'ance, and to obtain other advantages and results as maybe brought out in the following description. f
Referring;` to the accompanying` drawing,- in which like numerals of reference indicate the saine parts throughout the several views.
Figure l is a plan or face view of the body portion or game proper.
Figure 2 is a view showing several of the movable members, and
Figure 3 is a face view of the spinner for use with the game.
YIn the specific embodiment of the invention illustrated in said drawing, the reference numeral l indicates the body portion of the game, which may be of paper, cardboard, or any other suitable material as found desirable or best fitted for the purpose for which it is used. This body portion 'l bears upon its face the floor plan 2 of a house. This floor plan may be printed or otherwise.permanently fixed to the body portion 1, and for convenience the representation of the several rooms are designated as bed room, dining room, laundry and so forth, so the players will recognize what each room is intended to be. In each room I prefer to indicate certain electrical devices which inay be used in that particular room. As one mode of designation, I have Specification of Letters atent. Pgjgnted June 20, 1922 1.921. serial No. 464,635.
shown words 3 such` as ozonator, 'heating pad, vibrator and so forth, written upon the floor plan ofthe house. These designations are furthermore included in the present disclosure within circlest, each designation of an electrical device being within a separate circle.
Movable members 5 are provided for placing' upon the body portion bythe player, and these movable members also preferably have designations 6 of electrical devices corresponding to the designations 3 oli-the body portion of the game;v By preference, however, the designations 3 on thebody porr tion and the designations 6 on the movable member differ in character from each other,
the one being shown as the words andthe other being` shown as a representation o r picture of the article'. It perhaps makes the game more realistic to have the representation or picture on the movable members and the words onthe body portion, since the words more closely indicate the lack of the article and express itsneed which is filled by bringing in the representation.' The game therefore includes associatingin theplayers i mind the picture or representation 6 with the word Vor designation 3, and when Vhe goes to place one ofthe inovable'members rupon the body portion vit is necessary'to recognize the representation by its appropriate name. Obviously, while Ihave shown the picture yas upon Ythe movable member and the designationv as vupon the bodyportion, it is to be understood that this might be reversed without departing from the present invention. Preferably the circles 4 are provided so as give i'oom with each designation 3 for the movable member 5 to be 'placed without interfering with other designations.
In combination with the body l and the movable members 5, I preferably provide a spinner 7 having-a rotatable pointer 8 and havingdesignations 9 of electrical devices to which the pointer 8 may be spun, There are at least as many designations 9 upon the spinner as there are designations 3 upon the body l. In the present disclosure I have shown some of the designations duplicated p upon the spinner which will increase the difficulty of the players in winning the game. There should be as many of the movable members' 5 as there are designations 3 upon the body portion.
Iny use, the players successively spin the pointer 8 and when it stops upon a particui Vlar designation of Ian 4electrical device the i5 lesignati'on of which 'the movable member has already been placed upon the board the player may be penalized or if preferred the. penaltyxmay Abe 'attached after the player is una-ble to vplay 'forthis reason after a plurali'ty of attempts. The invention is not restricted to these particular rules, they being referred to merely forfsuggesting one definite way in which to play the game. An inipoitant rule to include would seem to be that "the Wrong selection of 'a movable inemjber or the wrongselectioln of the designation where the movable member is placed Would severely penalize. the player. Such a vrule would lnecessitate care in the choice and positioning of the movable members and would encourage the players to promptly vbecome acquainted with the various devices with which they are playing.
order' to. b etter acquaint. :the players wi'th'the devices and perhaps to describe the `same from their utility s'tandpointythe vari- 'ous devices may be illustrated in the mai- 'gnofjt'hefbody portion, as shown at l0, and suitable descriptive 'matter 'll associated Awith "the 'representations l0.
I'Other fmodilications, changes and variations in the manufacture and use/olf my invention may be made without departingl from the spiritlor scope of the invention, fand l do ndt wish `to be lunderstood as limiting m'yself'eXcept as 'required bythe following 'claims 'when lconstrued in the light of "the prior art.
'tio-ns o'f electrical Having thus described my invention, I claim.
l. ln a game of the character described,
Vt-'he combination of designations of electrical devices, and movable members for association 'therewith by the player having other designations of the same devices thereon, one of said designations being words and the other designation being pictures.
2. In a gaine of the character described, the combination of a body portion having Word designations of electrical devices thereon, and movable members having corresponding picture designations of said electrical devices thereon whereby the player has to associate the picture designation with the Word designation in 'placing the movable member on said body portion.
3. ln a game of the character described, the combination of a body portion having the floor plan of a house lthereon, designadevices in the several rooms of the floor plan, and movable members having corresponding electrical designations thereon.
4. ln a game off the 'character described, the combination. vof a floor plan 'having designations of electrical devices thereon,Y
movable members each having the designations of an electrical device thereon corresponding to one of the designations on the floor plan, the designations on the floor plan `and on the movable members being` Aone Word designations and the other ,picture designations whereby the player has to associate the proper picture with the corresponding; word.
5. ln a game of t-he character described, the combination lof a plurality of designationsof electrical devices movable members 7 having corresponding designations thereon,
and a spinner also having designations ofV the saine electrical devices, the 'designations of one of said 'parts differing in character from the designations on thewother part.
n'testimony whereof I affix my signature.
