. and useful Improvements in Display Racks,
of whichthe following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in store fixtures, and has particular reference to a display rack, designed primarily to support and display neckties or like articles.
An important object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, which is characterized by extreme simplicity, cheapness, and large range of adjustability.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description. 7
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a device embodying my invention,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same, parts being broken away,
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on line 33 of Fig. 2, and,
Fig. 4 is a similar view taken on line H of Fig. 2. p
In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodie ment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a body portion or head, which is preferably horizontally arranged, in use. Thisbody portion is preferably formed of sheet metal, and is preferably substantially semicylindrical. The material of the head 5 has its forward edge bent downwardly forming an inclined upstanding flange 6, bent outwardly at its lower end, forming a horizontal flange 7. The flanges 6 and 7 are provided with vertical slots or openings 8, which extend for a short distance into the material of the head 5, as shown. At its rear side, the material of the head 5 is bent upwardly for producing an upstanding attaching flange 9, having openings 10, for receiving screws or the like.
The rack further comprises a plurality of arms 11, preferably formed of wire, having their outer ends bent upwardly slightly at Specification of Letters Patent. I
Patented J une6, 1922,
12. The inner ends ofthe arms 11 are bent into elongated loops 13. These loops slidably receive a curved tying element or wire. 14:, supported by the horizontal flange 7, and havlng inwardly bent ends 15, entering open ings 16, in the-upstanding flange 6. The tyng element or wire 14; is so t ensioned that its inwardly bent ends 15 remain within the openlngs 16.
Particular attention is called to the fact that the vertical openings or slots 8 are substantially wider than the diameter of the wire arms 11, and permit of asubstantially horizontal swinging movement of the arm, in either direction, as indicated in F ig. 2. This will permit. of the proper inspection of the ties supported by the arms. The arms, when pushed rearwardly, are held in the horizontal position, by their rear endsen-. gagingw beneath the head 5, but when it is desired to collapse the device, the arms are moved forwardly so that their rear ends are brought from beneath the head 5, and hence the arms are free to swing downwardly, the curvedrear ends of the arms clearing the top walls of the openings 8.
It is to beunderstood, that the form of .my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various'changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the splrlt of my invention or the scope of the subjoinedclaim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
having apertures near its ends,a tying wire arranged upon the forwardly projecting horizontal flange in advance of the upstandim- 0 we i .90. comprising a substantially horizontal sheet ing flange and having its ends bent in-" wardly, said inwardly bent ends entering the apertures in the upstanding flange, and arms formed of wire, the rear end of each arm being bent back upon itself forming elongated; loops, said loops receiving the tyadapted to be held in the horizontal position by engagement beneath the head When shifted rearwardly, and to be lowered to a substantially Vertical position when shifted 10 forwardly. V
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ASBURY HAMILTON.
