It is well appreciated that it-has been quite customary to provide receptacles for various classes of goods, such as confectionery, and more particularlycandy, which receptacles are of a'highly ornate nature.

A further object of my invention is that of providing the exposed portion of a re-' ceptacle in various shades and designs in the connection aimed, and which receptacle although more particularly intended for use in connection with the receiving of candy and confectionery, is not'necessarily limited 1 to this particular adaption. .7

It is well appreciated among lamp shade manufacturers, and users that clips, such as those illustrated in Figures 2 and 3, do not always prove practical, particularly where the shade is large, andit willbe seen reference being had to Figure l, which illustrates a slightly different form of highly ornate lid, that the frame may include looped portions 16, affording attachmentto a suspending means 17, by means of which the entire lid forming the shade may be suspended from, rather than possibly attached to, the source of illumination. It will also be obvious that, as has previously been brought out in connection with the lid 18, illustrated in Figure that providing the same is of a sufficiently small nature, that theframee work 11 thereof, may include clips corresponding to the clips 12 of Figure 3, in lieu of the suspending means, which are preferably only resorted to where the lid is of a relatively large size.

its is customary, this looped portion preferably lies in a plane below that of the'upper portion of the frame, and it will be obvious that a certain protecting medium will be necessary to retain the contents of the receptacle in spaced relationship with respect to the loop, 22. l his protecting means may be of any suitable type such as for instance a disk shaped member having its center portion raised, as at 24:, its outer edges being conveniently upturned, as at 25. This expedient obviously permits of the filling of the body portion with any desired contents, which latter are prevented from contacting with the parts of the frame.

Thus, I have provided a receptacle, either of the portions of which may be subsequentlyutilized to provide a useful and ornamental article, so that the expense incident to the initial purchase of the same is more than justifiable.

It will also be appreciated that obviously numerous modifications of structure and variations of design and material may be resorted to without in the least departing from the spirit of my invention, which I claim as- I 1. A device of the class described coinpi'ising a receptacle including a lid and body portion, one of said portions being in the nature of a finished lamp shade.

2. A device of the class described, comprising a receptacle, including a lid and body portion, one of said portions being of a highly ornate character and translucent, and being in the nature of a finished lamp shade.

3. A device of the class descibed, cont prising a receptacle including a body and lid portions, a frame attached to one of said portions, the portion to which said frame is attached being translucent and being in the nature of a finished lamp shade.

4:. A device of the class described, comprising a receptacle including a lid and body portion, one of said portions being translucent, a framework associated with said translucent portion, and securing means attached to said framework whereby said latter portion is in the nature of shade.

A device of. the'class described comprising a receptacle including a lid and bed portion, one of said portions being translucent, aframework attached to said latter portion, securing means attached to said framework permitting of the use of said receptacle portion with which the framework is associated, andmea-ns adapted to co-operate with said framework for protecting said members from contact with the contents of said receptacle.
