Description
G. PARK. MACHINE FOR REMOVING THE SKINS FROM THE KERNELS 0F NUTS.
APPLICATION -FILEQ MAR. 2M 1921- Patented Mar. 28, 1922.
V INVENTOR ATTORNEY sra'res GEORGE PARK, 0F BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY.
MACHINE FOR REMOVING THE SKINS FROM THE KERNELS OF NUTS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 28, 1922.
Application filed March 21, 1921. Serial No.4=54,221.
To all whom. it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE PARK, a citizen of the United States, resident at Bayonne, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful i\ I.achine ior Removing the Skins from the Kernels of Nuts.
My invention relates to improvements in which avertical ram is sheathed by a tube which precedes the ram, and moves down suiiiciently far to encase the kernel, centralizing it, and guarding it, while the ram is coming into operation. the ram pushing the kernel the rest of the way through a fabric material enclosed by springs, and thereby removing the skin trom the kernel.
Linen in the form of a tunnel, secured at its upper end, and protruding some distance below the springs at its lower end, forms a fabric material.
The springs, towards the center at the lower end, forming a sufiiciently small enclosure so that the passage of a kernel I attain these objects by mechanism illus trated in the accompanying drawing, in which- The figure is a. vertical section of the machine. The base 3, and the vertical column et secured to the base 3 form the frame of the machine.
in the bearings 11 and 12 moves the ram (v and on the lower end of the ram 6 slides the sheath 7, controlled and operated by the levers 8 and 9 respectively.
On the top of the base 3 the cup sits, and between the cup 5 and the base 3 the several in number, deviate deflects them outwards.
springs 1 and the fabric material 2 are secured.
The kernel 10 is seen dropping into position and will rest in the fabric material 2 before the sheath 7 moves down to encase the kernel 10. The ram 6 then moves down, i and pushes the kernel 10 through the fabric material 2 enclosed by the springs 1 through into the base 3, thus completing the operation.
hat is claimed is In a machine for removing the skins-from the kernels of nuts, the combination with a cup and distributed resilient members extending from the base of said cup and converging along straight lines forming an.
aperture, an underlying disc for securing and aligning said resilient members and cup, of :1V non-resilient element for the reception of a kernel, contained therein and secured thereto and converging along lines of said resilient members and protruding there through, and a reciprocating sheath for the enclosing of a kernel, moving into and through said cup and into and upto and touching said non-resilient element and dwelling therein and returning, and a reciprocating ram for the forcing of a kernel, moving in and through said sheath and into and through and past said non-resilient element contained by said resilient members and returning.
April 14th, 1921.
GEORGE PARK.
