Be it known that I, ALBERT, C. TERRELL,

citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and 5 State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Drawers, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to drawers for cabinets, filing cases, and the like; and its object is to provide a drawer of improved construction and having parts which may be readily assembled.

This and any other objects hereinafter appearing are attained by, and the invention finds preferable embodiment in, the structure hereinafter particularly described in the body of this'specification and illustrated by the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of the fore part of a drawer, a portion of the face member of the drawers front being shown in section on a horizontal plane corresponding to line 1-1 of Figures 2 and 3;

Figure 2' is a front view of the drawer, a portion of said face member being broken away;

Figure 3 is a view in perspective of the drawer and the face member of its front in position about to be assembled; and

Figure l is a like view, enlarged, ofthe front corner of said drawer.

In the embodiment of the invention chosen for illustration by the drawings and for detailed description in the body of this specification, a drawer made of sheet metal is shown, having a bottom 1, back 2, sides 3 and front which comprises a body member 4 and a face member 5. These parts, excepting the face member 5, are securely joined together, the forward ends of the drawer sides 3 being seated and securely fastened, as by spot welding, between the parallelly disposed side-holding portions 6 of the body member 4 of the drawers front, said member being bent to form such portions and the outwardly extending end flanges 7 as particularly seen in Figures 1 and 4. Orifices 12 in the body member 4 and orifices 13 in the face member 5 register with each other when the face member is slid to its assembled position seen in Figures 1 and 2, whereupon the mounting parts 14 of the drawers pull 15 may be thrust through these orifices to attach the drawer pull to the drawer and to lock the members 4, 5 of the drawer front together. It will be seen that by providing this two-member drawer front, the face member 5 may be painted, decorated or finished separately and in different style from the rest of the drawer, and also that a new face member having desired lettering and the like may be readily assembled with an old drawer.

The invention being intended to be pointed out in the claims, is not to be limited to or by details of construction of the particular embodiment thereof illustrated by the drawings or hereinbefore described.

I claim:

1. In a drawer; a sheet metal body member of the drawers front bent adjacent each end to form parallelly disposed side-holding portions and an outwardly extending end flange; drawer sides whose forward ends are securely held between said side-holding portions; a sheet metal face member of the drawers front having at each end an inwardly extending retaining flange vertically slidable on said body members said flange.
