Description

w. H. BRACE.
Wagon-Springs..
No. l.1l0,H0` Patemedjune 24,1873.
' www@ EHMWMMQ NITED STA'rEs WILLIAM H. BRAOE, OF NUNDA, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND J. It. WOODWORTH, OF SAME PLAGE.
IMPROVEMENT IN WAGONSPRINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. hhh l0, dated June 24, 1873; application tiled May 27, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM II. BRAOE, of Nunda, in the county of Livingston and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wagon-Springs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being' had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specication.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the springs for supporting the seat of a skeleton wagon, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents aside View of my invention.
A represents the front axle, and A the rear axle, ot' a Vehicle, the rear axle being connected with the front head-block B by means of a center-reach, C. On cach side of the centerreach O to the rear axle A is attached a sidereach, D, upon the front end of which is laid and secured a Wooden spring-bar, E. The two spring-bars E E extend toward' the rear, as shown in the drawing, and the seat G is secured or supported upon their rear ends. Bc-
tween the front ends of the sprilig-bars E E is secured the wagon bottom, and the dash II is fastened at the front in any suitable manner. A suitable distance in rear of the front end of each side-reach D on the under side is secured a spring, I, which extends forward; and the front ends of the two springs I I are suspended by means of couplings c et from the ends of a spring, J, which is secured on top of the head-block B.
By the combination of the parts supporting the seat it will be seen that both the body and the feet of the rider is supported on springs and ,rides easy.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with the axles and front head-block of a wagon, the side-reaches D D, springs I I, couplings c c, and spring J, secured on the head-block for supporting the seat-arms and seat, substantially as herein set forth. Y
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I aftx my signature in presence ot' two witnesses.
XVM. H. BRACE.
