T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that we, Roennr B. KIRK and JOSEPH B.- YOUNG, citizens of the United States, residin at Olden, in the county of Eastland and btate of Texas, have inventec certain new and useful Improvements in Cooking Utensils, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to cooking utensils, the primary object of which is to provide a device which will expeditiously heat its contents.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device which will support a receptacle either in or above any type of heating medium requiring only a minimum heating surface which will radiate heat to all sides of the receptacle, as well as the bottom of the latter.
The above and other objects of this invention will be in part described and in part understood from the following description of the present preferred embodiment of the invention taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Fig. 2, is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and looking in the direction of the arrow.
The device of this invention. consists especially of a drum 3, which is preferably divided into two compartments comprising an inner compartment 4 and an outer compartment 5. The drum in the present instance is shown to be of a cylindrical configuration, although any other desired shape may be used. -Moreover, the device is preferably made of metal, although other materials may be used without departing from the spirit of this invention. The drum may be made from two sheets of metal as shown in Fig. 1, or, if desired, may be made of an integral sheet. When constructed as shown in Fig. 1, the sheet of metal is bent first, into cylindrical shape, and the upper and lower margins thereof, are bent at right angles and then pressed inwardly to provide upper and lower flanges 6 and 7, respectively. A second sheet is provided which is likewise bent into cylindrical shape of a smaller diameter than the first mentioned sheet and has the upper end thereof bent inwardly at right angles to provide a supporting ledge 8. The lower end of the sheet -'s engaged with the inner periphery of the flange 7 and terminatesat the lower face of the latter. In view of this construction the heat is permitted to circulate through said inner sheet, which constitutes the compartment 4, as indicated by the arrows, and pass into the compartment 1 through apertures 9 adjacent the ledge 8. The heat then travels through the 1 outer compartment 5 and ultimately exits through openings 10 formed adjacent the flange 7 I The ledge 8 is adapted to support a vessel, such for nstance, as that indicated at 11 in the drawings. This vessel is cylindrical in shape and has the upper terminal thereof bent at right angles, as indicated at 12, for engagement with said ledge 8. Preferably, the vessel terminates short of the lower end of the inner compartment i so as to permit an ample area for the radiation of heat around the bottom of the utensil.
This device is capable of a variety of uses, such for instance, as a tea or coffee pot, water boiler, etc. The contents of the vessel will be heated in a minimum period of time due to the constant contact of heat with the bottom and outer periphery thereof, necessitat- 1ng only a relatively small heater.
Various changes may be made in this device, especially in the construction of the vessel used, its manner of association with the heating drum, etc., within thescope'of the appended claim.
What is claimed is A cooking utensil including a drum comprising inner and outer metal sheets, said outer sheet being cylindrical and having its terminals turned inwardly at right angles to provide flanges, the inner sheet being also cylindrical, arranged within the outer sheet, and engaged with said flanges, said inner sheet having its upper end bent inwardly at right angles to provide a utensil-supporting flange, said inner sheet having a series of openings near its upper outer sheet having series of openings near its lower'end whereby the heat is permitted to circulate upwardly through the inner sheet and downwardly between both sheets substantially as described. j t
