To all whom it may concern.: p
Be it known that I, ABRAM HEULrNGs, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Creeper for Boots and Shoes, of which the following is a specification:
The invention relates to an adjustable icei. creeper, to be secured to the sole of' a boot or shoe. It folds or closes when not in use, and opens on the tread or sole when used for walking on ice or slippery ground.
Figure l is a View ofthe creeper applied to the sole of a boot and opened ready for use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the Creeper when closed. Fig. 3 is alongitudinal vertical section of the creeper when opened. A is a T-arm, which turns in the jaws a of the soleplate B, attached to the bottom of the boot 0,' at the shank. When the creeper is to be used it is thrown open, as shown at Figs. 1 and 3, the bearing-points being the tips or points b,
and the heel D of the shoe or boot. The tips take into the ice and thereby enable .the wearer to Walk easily and confidently Without the slightest chance of slipping. Then not in use the arm A is thrown back on the plate B, Fig. 2, which reverses the position of the tips b, and folds the creeper snugly against the sole of the boot to not impede walking. A spring, E, Fig. 3, bears against the lend c of the arm A, and keeps it in place, either when opened or closed.
I claim as my inventioni A folding ice-creeper composed of the arm A, tops or points b, sole-plate B, jaws a, and the spring E, substantially as and for thepurpose shown and described.
