The invention. relates to apparatus. for heating plastic material, such as cement mortar, `lime mortar, or the like, so that the saine may be properly worked.
An important object ofthe invention. is to provide apparatus of the above mentioned character, which is so constructed that the same is particularly welladapted to be used in abuilding, the walls of which areto` be plastered, for holding and heating aplastic material, in a manner whereby-itmay 'be conveniently worked by the mason with the trowel in the ordinary manner. i v
A further object of the invention is to provide means which are convenient in use, to securely detachably lock the top or tray of the apparatus to the furnace or heater portion.
A further object of the invention is to provide apparatus of the above mentioned character, which is simple in construction,
inexpensive to manufacture, strong, and

A laterally extending tray 19 is se cured to the lire-box shell 10 below and adjacent the opening 18, to catch the ashes or coals passing from the opening when there is being stirred, as above stated.
At their upper ends thestrap-legs 14 have their material bent to form upwardly diverging hollow triangular heads 20, embodying upper horizontal portions 21. The lower lends y22 of these hollow heads are secured to the bod rportions of the strap-legs 14 by certain o the bolts or rivets 15, as shown. Y v
The numeral 23 designates a plastic material heating and supporting tray, preferably formed of sheet metal, with three of its edges bent upwardly, as shown at 24, and one edge bent downwardly, as shown at 25, whereby the plastic material will be properly retained upon the tray and yetV may be scraped off of the same.- lThis heating tray is provided upon its lower side with diagonally arranged strips or bars 26, crossing each other and attached to the tray 23 by bolts or rivets 27. The open triangular heads 20 are so arranged that they are adapted to engage with the diagonal strips or bars 26, to securely hold the tray upon the same, against longitudinalmovement in eitherdirection. H o i A Means are provided to detachably lock the tray 23 to the open triangularheads 20, against vertical movement with relation thereto, comprising a plurality of Leshaped.
In the use of the apparatus, the re is built in the lire-box l0, and the plastic ma- 'terial placed upon the heating tray 23,
whereby the same is retained at the proper temperature. v'When the apparatus is not in use, or for the purpose'of cleaning the same, the tray 23 may be removed from the hollow triangular heads 20, the same being conveniently accomplished by turning the shifting. ring 29 vin the direction to withdraw the bolt 28 from within 'the ytriangular heads 2C. It is to be understood that the form ,of the invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example ofthe l same, and that various changes in the shape,
size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described the invention, I claim In apparatus of the character described, an upstanding ire-box shell, upstanding strap-legs secured thereto and extending upwardly and downwardly beyond the same andV having their upper'ends bent to form substantially triangular open heads embodying. horizontal portions, a tray adapted'to be arranged upon the'horizontal portions of the triangular open heads, straps crossing each other' and diagonally arranged upon the lower surface of the tray andrigidly secured thereto for engagement with the triangular heads, said straps having sockets formed therein, and a shifting ring mountedwithin the sockets and carrying laterally extending bolts adapted to enter the triangular heads for engagement Withvthe horizontal portions thereof.
