Be it known that WILLIAM BRAUNSDORF, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York,1has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket- Holders, of which the following is a specification.Vv y

This invention has relation'to receptacles with particular reference to ticket holders. and has for an obj ect to provide a'device of this character designed to receive a strip of tickets which are previously folded, and insertedy in the holder with one end of the strip projecting through an opening thereof whereby the strip may be severed at previously designated places along its'length, means being provided to preclude the issuance of a greater portion of the strip than intended, and to accomplish other` purposes to be hereinafter setforth.

In addition to the foregoing thisinvention comprehends improvements in the details of constructionV and arrangement of'parts, to be hereinafter described and particularly set forth in the appended claim. i

With reference to Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive of the drawings, 10 indicates an outer casing which is substantially rectangular in form, and 11 designates an inner slide orreceptacle designed to be inserted within the casing 10.

addition thereto the top side is cut away from one end to a distance extending toward the medial portion lof the casing, the top side 12 at said cut away portion terminating in a downward extension 13 which is extended transversely l of the casing and is curved at its lower end so that its intermediate portion is relatively thin, while its terminals are relatively wide andare disposed in spaced relation to the inner surface of the side of the side wall of the casing v10 as shown in Fig. 3. The bottom wall of the casing at the opposite end thereof4 is upturned asat 14 to provide a stop. The slide 1'1 is rectangular in form, and open entirely at the top. The slide is designed to be formed in one piece, and to that end one end is'uptu'rned as at 15 and then extended t0- ward the opposite end of the slide and then downward as at 16 and secured toA the bottom wall of the slide in any suitable manner. such as bythe provision of a tongue 17 designed toenter an openingV in said bottom wall. The top surface of said extension is undulated as shown in Fig. 2 so as to provide a descending surface 18l defining a' sharp corner 19, and then a slowly ascending surface 19 merging into a subsequent slowly descending surface 20, the juncture of said surfaces 19 and 20 defining a relatively short Aapex 21.` rlhe juncture of the surface 2O with the vertical wall 16 defines a sharp edge 22, the rear end of said surface 20 being located directiy beneath Vthe lower edge of the depending portion 13 described above, and to that end the top edge ofv the wall 16 is curved to conform to the curvature of said portion 13 and is disposed Vin slightly spaced relationvthereto. The edge 21 it will be noted is preferably straight as well as the edge 19. The ticket, which is usually furnished in a single strip,fwith sections thereof defined byV transverse rolls 'of perforation is, folded across said line of perforation' and the folded strip inserted in the slide 11 withA one end of the strip projecting through the space between the surface 20 and the depending portion 13 as shown in bottom lines in Fig. 20. It will be noted that the issuing end of the strip has imparted thereto a transverse curvature, and as a resultof this curvature and the fact that the next succeeding one or two sections of the strip within the container are not curved, said uncurved section will abut against the wall 16, and con-k will be exerted upon the strip to retard the same to some extent when the strip is partly pulled from the container so that the pro- Ajecting end of the strip will be securely held after the desired section or ticket is severed therefrom, thereby permitting the pro]ect ing end to be readily grabbed the next time -to disengage the rear wall thereof from beneath said depending portion 13.

I have illustrated in Figs. 5 and V6 a slightly modified form of my invention in which the use of an inner slide is eliminated,

- and in place thereof provide a casing 25 which isclosedat oneend and open atthe other and said end provided with a depending portion 26 of the top wall, corresponding to the depending portion 13 and transversely curved in a similar manner. I also provide a closure for said end of the casing, consisting of a block 27 which mayy be hollow or solid as desired and is hingedly connected bymeans of the hinge 2S to one side wall of the casing. 25 so that the block may be swung aside to permit folded tickets to be` inserted endwise into the casing. The top surface of said block 27 is formed with the edge 19', 19, and l2O in a manner similar to the formation of the corresponding surfaces in the form just described. The endof the ticket strip is inserted through the opening defined by the surface 20and the lower edge of the depending portion 26 and may be severed in' a similar mannen To provide a means to retain the block 27 in closed position I form a recess 29 in one end wall of the b1ock27,said recessbeing designed to receive an extension 30 of one end wall of the casing 25, a detent 31 being formed upon the inner side of said extension 30 to enter a keeper recess 32 formed in the surface of the recess portion 29.

' From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided anew and novel form of ticket holder which is differentiated over other forms of ticket holders heretofre provided in that the tickets may be readily folded and inserted in the box and may be withdrawn one at a time, so that there would be no possibility of withdrawing more than one ticket at a time through friction of adjacent surfaces of the folded strip.v I also provide a ticket holder which is extremely Y i simple in construction, comprised in such few parts and which can be manufactured in an economical manner.

While I have illustrated and described my invention with some degree of particularity I realize that in practice various alterations therein may be made. I therefore reserve the right and privilege of changing the'form of the details of construction or otherwise altering the arrangements of the correlated parts without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim. V

Having thus described my invention', what I I claim as 'new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is y A ticket holder comprising a casing having one; top wall spaced inward fromfthe end, an enlarged portion at said end consisting of an abutment wall having a curved edge spaced from said top wall, a curved lip extending laterally from said top wall in the spaced relationto the abutment wall to define a curved opening to impart Va transverse curvation to the issuing strip of tickets, and

a table wall formed with said enlarged portion forming a continuation of said top wall and having a transverse convex curvature and a sharpened edge upon which to sever Y the strip. v A
