To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BRUCE W. AVERY, a Whiting, in the county of Lake and tate of Indiana, have invented new and useful .Improvements in Exhaust-Gas Conveyers,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to means for conducting. the exhaust gases of automobiles,
-motors, stationary engines and the like to the exterior of garages or other buildings so that said gases will not remain in the.
through a wall of the building, and having a ,means whereby it may be easily and quickly attached to' the outlet end of the muflier of the engine.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for holding the pipe or pipes 'out of the way when not in use.
This invention also consists, in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the. appended c anus.
In describing my invention indetail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or correspondin partsthroughout the several views, and m which Figure 1 is a sectional view through a portion of the garage showing the simplest form of the invention.

Fig. 1. shows the invention in use on a private garage for holding a single car.
In th1s view a pipe 1 1s passed-through a wall 2 of the garage so that its end projects from the exterior of the wall. The
inner end of this ipe has a flexible tube 3 connected therewlth and this tube is long enough to extend to the outlet 4 of the muffler 5 of the automobile. The end of the tube is connected with said outlet by a set screw Q or the like,
'It will thus beseen that when the engine of the car is running the exhaust gases will be carried to the exterior of the garage so that a person may tuneup the engine or test the same with the garage doors shut and not be in danger of being injured by the exhaust gases. v
Fig.2 shows the invention applied to a large garage. In this form of the invention a main pipe 7 is located in the building with one end leading to theexterior thereof. Couplings 8 are located in said pipe and these couplings receive the ends of the flexible tubes 9. These tubes are each provided with the set screw 6' by which the tube ma be connected with the muliier of the car.

In this way when it is desired to start the motor of the car the attendant would first take hold of the end of the tube ulling the samedown against the action of with the muffler. In this way the gases will ass through the tube into the pipe 7 and mm this pipe to the exterior of the building. Check valves may be placed in the tubes to prevent'the when the tube is not in use.

I desire it to be understood that I may make, changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall withlnthe scope of the appended claim.
