To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FELIX P. KIN'rzELn', a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a new and useful Soft-Collar Holder, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to soft collar holders.

An object of the invention is to provide a soft collar holder, the length of which may be extended and contracted and which includes a spring normally tending to hold the parts inthe positions of their shortest length.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved soft collar holder for applying tension to the ends of the collar 1n a direction toward each other in a novel and effective manner.

There are other objects to be obtained by my present invention, all of which Wlll be made apparent by the following description,

reference being made to the drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of'my improved collar holder.

Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view.

As shown, my improved collar holder comprises two telesooping clasps. The part 1 telescopes within the other part, comprising the enlarged portion 2 and a portion 3 of smaller dimensions. Both of said parts are pressed to shape and are preferably arcuate in side elevation as shown. The part 1 telescopes within the enlarged portion 2 of the cooperating member and has its end bent to provide an abutment 4 for the inclosed expansion spring 5. The opposite end of the expansion spring 5 bears against the inturned end 6 of the outer member. The sheet metal, of which the two members are formed, is pressed and shaped to provide hooks 7 on the ends of said members, respectively. The hooks 7 extend obliquely inwardly so that when applied to the outer part of a collar, they Wlll make proper enga ement.

From the foregoing it will. be seen that a constant tension will be exerted against the clasp members 9 and 14-, to cause the collar holder to remain in proper connection with the collar. The spring 5 applies proper tension to the collar, and permits the length of the device to be extended or reduced to meet different requirements.

I claim 1. A soft collar holder, comprising two arcuate members, telescoping one within the other for a part of their length, an expansion spring within the two telescoping members limiting outward longitudinal movement thereof and actuating said members to telescope one within the other, a hook rigid with and extending inwardly from the concave side of each of said members near the outer ends thereof, and a pivoted clasp supported by each telescoping member and at ranged to cooperate with the hook on said member for the purpose described.

A soft collar holder, comprising two arcuate members one of which is provided with an enlarged portion on its inner end and the other of which has its inner end telescoping within said enlarged portion, an expansion spring within the telescoping portions of said two members, means limiting extent of movement of one of said members within the other, a hook on the outer end of each of said members, and a clasp pivotally supported by each of said members to cooperate with said hooks respectively.

3. A soft collar holder, comprising a pair of telescoping members, a hook on the end of each of said members, and a bifurcated clasp supported by each of said members and embracing said hooks between the arms thereof respectively.

4. A soft collar holder, comprising a pair of telescoping members, a spring tending to telescope one of said members within the other, an abutment limiting movement of 10 one of said members within the other, a hook on the outer end of each of said members, a bifurcated clasp supported by each of said members and embracing said hooks between the arms thereof, and springs .for 15 actuating said clasps.
