PENCIL ATTACHMENT.
APPLICATION FILED MAR. 27. 1920.

INVENTOR ATFORNEY WITNESS,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PENCIL ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1920.
Application filed March 27, 1920. Serial No. 369,208.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HOMER MOORE, a citizen of the United States residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pencil Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my present sole invention is the provision of an eraser attachment for pencils; the said attachment being carried by the pencil and having means to receive the index finger of a writer so as to assist in the convenient holding of the pencil, and being adapted when it is desired to erase any of the writing, to be turned about its axis on the finger so as to present its work- 'ing portion to the writing or other pencil marks to be erased.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the.
invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, hereby made a part hereof:
Figure 1 is a view showing my novel device as properly applied to a pencil, and also showing the device as positioned on the index finger of a writer using the pencil.
Fig. 2 is a transverse section taken through the finger stall and the pencil-receiving sleeve My novel device is formed of one piece of rubber, and is made up of a finger stall 1 an eraser portion 2 at the forward end of the finger-stall, and a pencil-receiving sleeve 3 at the side of the stall.
The pencil is numbered 4, and in the practical use of my invention, the sleeve 3 is placed'under tension on the pencil and so as to hold the latter at one side of the device and to the same.
In the practical use of the device the finger stall 1 is positioned on the index finger of a person and so that the pencil 4 is arranged between the index finger and the thumb, for convenient writing or drawing purposes, as shown in Fig. 1.
When it is desired to use my novel device for erasing purposes, the finger stall is turned about its axis on the indexfinger so as to carry the pencil font of the way, and
so as to position the eraser portion 2 for use,
as shown in Fig. 3. The device may then be manifestly manipulated with facility through the medium of the index finger of the user, and then when the erasing operation is completed, the device may be turned back to the position shown in Fig. 1 for the succeeding use of the pencil.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is: 1
As a new article of manufacture, an eraser attachment for pencils formed of a single piece of rubber, and comprising a finger stall, an eraser portion at the forward end of said stall, and a pencil-receiving sleeve arranged at the side of the stall and extending in the direction of the length thereof.
