ELECTRIC SWITCH.
Application filed July 15, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mormon Gnnr'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Switches, which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to electric switches. A switch involving the invention can be employed with advantage in many difi'erent connections; for instance, it may form a part of the equipment of a vacuum cleaner or sad-iron, these being merely two of several illustrations. 1 have several motives in view, among them being the provision of I an article of the character set forth, which can be easily mounted and readily operated. 1

The top of the case is denoted by 3 and it is practically in form of a metal disk, having diametrically opposite ears or lugs 4 which match the offstanding lugs 5 at the upperend of the body of the case. Overlaying this top 3 is a cover or face plate 6, through perforations in which and also in the respective lugs d and 5, screws as 7 extend, the screws being in threaded engagement with the respective lugs 5 and acting as a convenient means to hold the top 3 and face plate or cover 6 in position. The face plate or cover has in ad dition holes or perforations as 8 adapted to receive screws or equivalent means by which the switch as a unit may be fastened to a support.
The switch involves a circuit-controlling or switching member. This circuit-controlling or switching member obviously has on and 0d positions. l hen the circuit controlling or switching member is inthe on relation it extends between and electrically bridges contacts or terminals of suitable nature, a form of which is shown and will hereinafter be described. An electric switch comprising a case" by 25 and 26 respectively each being practically, of L or angular shape. The forked horizontal portions of the terminals, fit under the'upper flange of the studs 22 and 23. The upright portions of the terminals 27 and 28 which face inward to cooperate with the metallic eyelet or rivet 9 or hole 19. In full lines in Fig.- 2 and also Figs. 3 and 4, the switching or circuit closing member 9 is supposedto be in the operative or on position, the bosses 27 and 28 at this time fitting in the metallic eyelet 9'. To reverse the switch, the actuator 13 is swung over to the dotted line position in Fig. 2, thus moving the eyelet 9 away from the bosses 27 and '28, the motion being continued until the bosses can be projected into the hole 19.
The case 2 interiorly thereof is furnished with projections as 29 and 30 arranged in pairs; and which can be formed by pressing provided with a cover having an opening, a segmental carrier of insulating material in the case, having an :arm integral therewith, the arm extending through the opening in the cover, a pivot projecting through the segmental carrier, at its junction with the arm, the cover having grooves extending oppositely from the opening, and the pin being set in said grooves to thus permit oscilflation of the carrier by said arm, contacts in the case, and a switching member on the carrier, the arm as it. rocks causing the switching member to move between and in e tates engagement with the contacts and then out of such engagement.-

An electric switch comprising a case provided with a cover having an opening, a segmental carrier of insulating material in the case, having an arm integral therewith, the arm extending through the opening in the cover, a pivot projecting through the segmental carrier, at its junction with a the arm, the cover having grooves extending oppositely from the slot, and the pin being set in said grooves to thus permit oscillation of the carrier, a rivet supported by the carrier and constituting a-switching member, the arm as it rocks causing the rivet to move between and in engagement with the contacts and then out of such engagement.
3. An electric switch comprising a case provided with a cover having an opening,
a flat segmental carrier of insulating material in the case, having a flat arm integral therewith, the arm extending through, the opening in the cover, contacts in, the case, a switching member on the carrier, a pin proj ecting through the segmental carrier at its junction with the arm, the cover having grooves extending oppositely from the opening, and the pin being set in said grooves to thus permit oscillation of the carrier by said arm, the arm as it rocks causing the switching member to move between and in engagement with the contacts and then out of such engagement, and a-iface plate set against the cover, having an opening through which said arm passes, and means for uniting the face plate and the cover to each other and for also uniting both parts to the case 4.
