MACHINE FOR CAPPING MULTISIDED PAPER BOTTLES. APPLzcAlori min Nov.15, 1911.

are closed by the rotary movement of the cam 13 to crimp the bottom sides of the bottle between the inner and outer side walls of the cap. The jaws are then opened by the further rotary movement of the cam 13 and the ejecting plunger 23 is then raised to lift the bottle ofi' from the table where the bottle ma Y be readily removed.
Ilrom the above description it will be seen that a very simple and effective means has been devised for capping the bottle and for ejecting the capped bottle, a common cam being provided for controlling the movements of the crimping jaws and ejecting means, said cam also forming a member of the bevel gear controlled by the drive shaft.
It is evident that various changes may be resorted to in the form, construction and arrangement of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the construction herein described, but
What I claim is:
1. In a machine for securing metal caps to multisided paper bottles, a table having a projection fitting within the cap, crimping jaws movable along the table, an ejector working through the table, and a cam rotating underneath the table for controlling the movements of the jaws and the ejector.
2. In a machine for securing metal caps to multi-sided paper bottles, a table having a projection fitting within the cap, crimping jaws movable along the table, an ejector working through the table, a cam rotating underneath the table for controlling the movements of the jaws and the ej ector, and a drive shaft geared to the cam.
3. In a machine for securing metal caps to multisided paper bottles, a table having a projection fitting within the cap, crimping jaws correspondin in number to the number o sides of theiottle, movable along the table, an ejector working through the table,
and a cam rotating underneath the table for controlling the movements of the jaws and the e'ector.
4. In a machine for securing metal caps a table having to multisided paper bottles,
' the cap, crimpa projection fitting within ing jaws corresponding in number to the number of sides of the bottle, movable along the table, an ejector working through the table, a cam rotating underneath the table for controlling the movements of the jaws and the ejector, and a drive shaft geared to the cam.
5. In a machine for securing metal caps to multisided paper bottles, a table having a projection fitting within the cap, crimping jaws movable along the table and having depending studs or rollers, an ejector plunger working through the table, its operatin g lever, and a cam rotating underneath the table, having a groove 1n its upper side for receiving said studs or rollers to control the movements of the jaws, and one or more cam surfaces on its under side for engaging said ejector lever to control the movements of the ejector plunger.
6. In a machine for securing metal caps to multisided paper bottles, a table having a projection itting within the cap, crimping jaws movable along the table and having dependino studs or rollers, an ejector plunger working through the table, its operating lever, and a cam rotating underneath the table, having a groove in its upper side for receiving said studs or rollers to control the movements of the jaws, one or more cam surfaces on its under side Jfor engaging said ejector lever to control the movements of the ejector plunger, and a drive shaft geared to the cam.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name this 31st da of October 1917.
