UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.

TOY DEVICE.
-; Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 10, 1920.
' Application filed August 15, 1919; Serial No.1 317,660.
State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Toy Devices, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertainsto make and use the same. I
This invention relates to toy devices, and the object thereof is to provide a device of this class designed to be held in and operated by hand, and which is provided with movable figure devices, the movement of which is controlled by hand, and with this and other objects in view the invention consists in a device of the class specified which is simple in construction and operation, and designed to amuse both old and young.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the device;
Fig. 2 a side view thereof; and,
Fig. 3 a partial section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1 and on an enlarged scale.
The device consists of a main disk-shaped frame 5 which is approximately circular in form and provided on one side thereof with a hand-piece 6. A pin 7 is passed centrally through the frame 5, and secured to the bottom of said pin is a rotary disk 8 provided on the bottom face and adjacent to the periphery thereof with a finger piece 9 by means of which said disk may be rotated.
VA supplemental rotatable disk 10 is mounted on thepin 7 above the frame 5, said disk being of less diameter than the circular portion of said frame and the periphery thereof is provided at spaced intervals with a plurality of apertures 11 adapted to receive pins 12 passed through movable figure devices 13 or bottom cam shoe portions 14 carried thereby, or integral therewith, as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawing.
The figure devices 13 may be the representation of various animals, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, lions, tigers and the like, or of human beings, if desired, and these devices are rotatably mounted on the pins 12, as will be apparent, and the bottom cam shoe portionslet are adapted to operate in connection with a-plurality' of projecting members lo mounted onthe top face of the frame 5 so as-to extend radially and beyond the periphery of the supplemental rotatable disk 10, as'clearly shown in the drawing.
In the use of the device, the frame 5 is held in one hand of the user by grasping the handlemember 6, while the finger or hand-piece 9 of the rotatable disk 8- is grasped by the other hand, or the fingers thereof and rotated, which operation will rotate the supplemental disk 10 which carries the figure devices 13 and moves the same over the projecting members 15 of the frame 5, the cam shoe portions 14: of said figures are adapted to operate in connection with said projecting members in this operation to alternately raise and lower the front and rear end portions of said figures to give the same an intermittent rotary movement or rotary oscillatory movement to imitate running or galloping of the animals or beings represented by the figures. It will be apparent, however, that my invention is not limited to any specific means of giving the figure devices 13 any particular movement nor to the specific arrangement of parts herein shown and described, and various changes therein and modifications thereof may be made, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A toy device of the class described comprising a frame provided with a handpiece, a rotatable disk mounted on and spaced from one side of said frame, said side of the frame being provided with a plurality of spaced and radially arranged vprojecting members located outwardly of the periphery of said disk, a plurality of figure devices detachably and movably connected with the periphery of said disk, cam-shaped shoe members on said devices adapted to operate in connection with said projecting members to give said devices a rotary oscillatory movement, another disk mounted on the opposite side of said frame and provided with a finger-piece for rotating the same, and means whereby the rotation of said last named disk will rotate said first named disk.
ment and a member on the other sidev of said frame and inoperative connection with said disk for rotating said disk to move said figure devices over said projecting members. 3. A toy device of the class described comarisin a frame a member rotatabl mounted in said frame and comprising a vdisk mounted above said frame, an operating pro ecting device mounted below said frame, a finger piece on said device for operating said member to rotate said disk, figure devices mova bly connected with said disk, a plurality of portions arranged in a circular path on said frame, and means on said figure devices adapted to operate in connection with the projecting portions of said frame to operate said figure devices in the movement of said disk. 7
In testimony that I claim the foregoing aslmy invention I have signed my name in presence of the, subscribing witnesses this 14th day of August 1919. I
ISIDOR ZION.
