Be'it known that'I, LOLAMOBA DE HERNAn- DEZ, citizen of Republic of Argentina, and

resident of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Avenida de Mayo 1207, have invented a certain new and useful Projection Apparatus, of

which the following is'a specification.

This invention relates to projection "apparatus, especially intended for'projecting motion pictures, and more particularly to projection apparatus adapted tobe used in the light as well as in the usual darkened room.

In order clearly, to disclose the nature of the invention I have illustrated a preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawing in which the figure is a perspective of the entire apparatus,certain common and wellknown parts being shown diagrammatically.

The apparatus comprises a skeleton frame of willow or other suitable material com prising a frame member 1, arc-shaped at the top, an end frame 2, rectangular in cross-section, and rods 3 extending between the two end members. siderably smaller than the frame 2 so that the rods 3 flare outwardly from frame 1 to frame 2. A covering 4; of opaque cloth, leather, or the like is supported on. the rods .3, and secured to the sides of the'covering 4: by means of hooks 5 are curtains 6, the covering 4 and curtains 6 serving as an in closure to exclude outside light. from the space between the end frames 1 and 2.

The projectionscreen 7 is. supported in the frame-2 and is formed of gelatin, cloth, mica, ground glass'or other suitable material which will render the projected .im-

A hood 11 is also mounted on the frame 2 to extend forwardly around the screen 7 in order to shade the screen and to make the projected image appear as distinct around the margin as at the center. I have found that by arranging lights, preferably .dark coloredli'ghts, on the outside of the hood 11,

the screen inside the hood can be made to appear dark by contrast, even in strong light, and I therefore provide a row of incandescent lights 12 along the top of the hood 11.

This apparatus is small and compact and by virtue of .its form of construction is readily adjustable and indeed portable. It affords means for displaying pictures in lighted rooms or even in daylight, with all the attendant advantages of permitting the operator to work in the light, permitting the spectators to view the pictures in the open air in the daytime, etc. One of the many uses to which the apparatus is admirably adapted is for kindergarten instruction.

Projection apparatus adapted to be used in the light, comprising a screen, a light source, an image holder between the screen and light source, a plurality of rods arranged at intervals around the space between said screen and holder, the rods flaring forwardly from a small outline in front of the holder to a larger outline around the screen, an opaque coverin supported upon said rods to exclude outsi e light from said space, a hood flaring rearwardlyfrom said small outline over-said holder, a hood extending forwardly from the outline of said screen to shield the screen from outside light, and light sources adjacent the outer side of said last -hood to make the screen inside the hood appear dark by contrast.
