Description
ATENT OFFICE.
CLARK G. NELSON, OF ROCKY FORD, COLORADO.
TCLBACCO MIXTURE.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, CLARK U. NnLsoN, a
citizen of the United States of America, and v a resident of Rocky Ford, Otero county, and
State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 1n Tobacco Mixtures. of which the followmg is a specil-ication.
My invention relates to tobacco and has special reference-to tobacco mixtures which are adapted for smoking.
()ne object of my invention is to provide a smoking mixture that will make a clear smoke and leave a clean taste in the mouth after smoking. which will minimize the detrimental effect on the ncrvesof the user.
Another object is to provide a clean, wholesome substitute for clear tobacco which shall be mild and satisfactory, and harmless to the user and inexpensive to manufacture.
More specifically, it has been my aim to make a tobacco blend composed of from oneehalfto-two-thirds tobacco and from one-third to one-half of a sugar producing vegetable. I prefer to utilize sugar beet pulp from which the sugar has been removed by the usual commercial processes which leave a certain sweetness in the pulp.
The beet pulp is thoroughly dried and Specification of Letters Patent.

any suitable stirring or mixing apparatus,
and then the mixture is ready to be put up in packages or cartons. ready for use. p v
I believe I am the first to suggest a mix-- ture of this'character and the mixture which I prefer has been satisfactorily used by smokers who are accustomed to the use of tobacco'and it has been found a perfectly satisfactory substitute for clear tobacco. young men and others who desire a mild smoke and the low cost at which it can be produced and sold is a decided advantage in favor of the man whose means are limited.
What I claim is:- i
1. A smoking tobacco blend composed of a mixture of smoking tobacco and dried sugar beet pulp.
2. A smoking tobacco blend composed of from one-half to two-thirds smoking tobacco. and from one-third to one-half of sugar beet pulp.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 28th day of January, 1919.
CLARK o. NELSON.
It is particularly adapted for use by
