To all whom it may concern:
iBe it known that I, SOIOHI HASHIMOTO, a
subject of the Emperor of Japan, residing at,
Yuba City, in the county of Sutter and State of California, have invented new and useful Im rovements in Aerial Toys, of which the fol owing is a specification.
The object of my present invention is, the provision of a simple, durable and safe aerial toy of the type in which by rapidly rotating a rotary member through the medium of a cord wound thereupon, a flying body may be made to make a flight of considerable height and length.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the
invention consists in the peculiar and advandefinitely claimed.

Similar numerals designate correspondingparts in all of the views of the drawings, The handle 1 of my novel toy is preferably of wood and carries tallic stem 2.
Mounted to rotate about the handle stem'2 is the rotary member 3 having-loweriand upper enlargements 4' and 5 and a porti'o'nfi: between said. enlargements forthe winding of the cord 7. Carried by and extending upwardly from the upper end of the rotary member 6 are pins 8, the upper ends of which are deflected in opposite directions,

In addition to the handle and the rotary member, my novel toy comprises a flying body best shown in Figs. 2 and 3, and which constitutes an important element thereof.
The said flying body comprises a ring 9 of wire, of circular .form in cross-section, a circular band 1 0 greater in width than the diameter of the wire and fixedto the outer side of and surrounding said wire, and a diametrical propeller 11 fixed at its ends to opposite points of the wire 9 and having a in fixed relation a 'medistance through the air.

Manifestly it is entirely feasible to make the propeller ll of a strip of sheet-metal and to provide it with a middle portion of a width at its ends to the ring 9 by bending the said ends around the .wire of the ring and solder ing them thereto. The wire ring 9 serves the important flying body against injury when the same falls to the ground or is-impelled against a stationary object, and it also serves toprevent the flying body from cutting or otherwise injuring any persons that it may strike. The band 10 is of thin metal, and is designed and adapted to prevent injury to the blades 13 and 14 when the flying-'bodyfalls to. the ground.
