APPLICATION FILED APR.4. 1919.
Patented Sept. 2 1919.

:; i I E UNITED sTAT s PATENT OFFICE.
An'ronm-N. TRUL'L'ENcH, or LU-cE'NA,TAYABAQPHILIPPIN ISLANDS.
To all whom itzmag concern:
Be it known that 'I, ANTONIO N. TRUL- LENorI, a citizen of the United' States, residing at Lucena, in the county of Tayabas, Philippine Islands, have-- invented certain new and useful Improvements in Draftss mens' Cases; and'Ido hereby declare the" following to be a full, clear, and exact de-* scription of the invention, such as will enable others killed in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to draftsmens carrying cases and particularly to devices for carrying drawing instruments and the like.
One object of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved carrying case wherein drawing instruments, drawingboard, and a printing frame for making blue prints and washing the same may be conveniently carried.
Another object is to provide a novel and improved carrying case wherein a portion thereof, in conjunction with the draftsmans drawing-board, may be conveniently used as a printing-frame for making blue prints.
Another object is to provide a novel and improved carrying case wherein a portion thereof is capable of use as a washing tray for washing the prints made in the other portion of the case.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing. 2
In the drawing:
Figure l is a side elevation of the carry ing case in closed position, and viewed fro the printing-frame side thereof.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional viewtaken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the case in open position.
Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line H of Fig. 3.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents a comparatively shallow receptacle or tray which is connected to a second shallow receptacle 11 by the hinges 12. The pivot pins 13 of these hinges are removable to permit the separation of the trays for a purpose which will be more fully set forth hereinafter. Within the tray 10 is disposed a second tray which is shown at 14 and this tray is divided into various compartments for the reception of drawing instruments and a roll of blue print paper.

DRAF'ISMANS CASE.
on which is disposed a sheet of glass 18 forming a part of the printing frame. The
drawing-board 19 is placed in this tray 11, on the glass plate and on the back of the board are pivotally mounted the clamping springs 20, the ends of saidsprings being arranged to be engaged beneath the angle members 21 which are secured to the inner faces of the side walls of the tray, said walls being shown at 22. A sheet of felt 23 is disposed between the board and the glass, and between this felt and the glass the drawing to be printed and the blue print paper are placed, in the manner and for the purpose which will be readily understood. The two sections of the case are provided with the handles 24 which come close together when the case is closed, so that they may be conveniently grasped together and the case readily and easily carried. A suitable fastening device is carried by the un hinged portions of the sections of the case for holding them in proper closed position.
In the operation of the invention, the case is swung into open position, as shown in Fig. 3 and the pins of the hinges removed. The drawing-board is then removed from its side of the case and the drawing made thereon in the usual manner. When the draftman desires to make a print of the drawing, he again places the board in the section 11 with the drawing, the sheet of paper, and the felt, the springs being properly engaged under the angle members 21, after which the section is placed in the sun. When the print is made the inner tray of the section 10 is removed and the print washed in the tray 10. Thus there is provided a novel and complete outfit for a draftsman wherein he is provided with all of the necessary materials and tools for making drawings, and means for making and washing blue prints of the drawings. This is especially useful for engineers, surveyors, or army men in the field.
What is claimed is:
1. A draftsmans outfit consisting of a carrying case including a pair of movably Patented Sept, 2, 1919.
Application filed April 4, 1919; -Seria1 No..287,600. 1
section being in the form of a tray for washing blue prints, the other section being arranged to contain the drawing board and a sheet of glass, the board having clamping springs whereby a printing frame is formed for printing from the drawings.
2. A draftsmans outfit consisting of a carrying case including a pair of removably hinged tray sections, a removable tray for containing drawing materials disposed in one section of the case and removable to permit the use of the section for washing prints, the other section having an opening in the bottom thereof, a sheet of glass disposed in copiel of this patent may be obtained for position to cover the opening, angle members secured to the sides of the said section a drawin board disposed in said section and formmg the back board of the printing frame, and spring members carried by the back of the board for engagement with said angle members.
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
