UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM PARKS, 0F FRAZEYSBURG, OHIO, ASSIGNOR 0F ONE-HALF TO ABRAHAM LEVI YOUNG, 0F FRAZEYSBURG, OHIO.
STRAINER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 2, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, l/VILLIAM PARKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Frazeysburg, in the county of Muskingum and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Strainer, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to milk strainers and its principal object is to provide a strainer wherein the reticulated or straining element is removable; the latter being mounted in a novel manner.
A further object of the invention is to provide a milk strainer which is simple in construction, durable in use, consists of few parts and which may be manufactured and sold at a minimum cost.
The above and other objects and advantages of the invention will become fully apparent fromthe followlng disclosure and the inventive features explicitly defined in the appended claim.
The invention consists of constructions, combinations, arrangement of parts, and general assembly which will be hereinafter specifically referred to and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure l is a fragmental view of a receptacle having my improved strainer applied thereto;
Fig. 2 is a view showing the reverse side of the strainer and showing the manner of forming the heading;
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same taken on line 33 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 4 is an enlarged fragmental view showing the manner of mounting the strainer, taken on line l4 of Fig, 1.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 5 designates a wall of a milk pail or other receptacle which is formed with an upper wall 6 having a discharge opening 7 therein. Formed upon opposite sides of the opening and extending transversely of the same are headings or ribs 8. A head 9 is also formed. in the wall near its outer edge which extends longitudinally of the wall 6 and joins the ribs 8. The beading 8 and 9 is formed by forming a depression upon the mner face of the wall 6.
Secured to the ribs or beading 8 and 9 is a discharge spout 10 which includes side walls 11 which are soldered or otherwise secured to the beading S and an end wall 12 that is soldered to the heading 9. This manner of attaching the discharge spout affords a. space between the wall 6 and discharge spout. The inner edges of the side walls of the discharge spout are bent inwardly and provide guide flanges 13 which are also spaced from the wall 6 and receive a reticulated strainer 14. The inner transverse edge of the strainer let is disposed between end wall 13 and the wall 6 of the receptacle and abuts the heading 9.
The embodiment of the invention herein disclosed is considered to be the preferred construction but it is to be understood that the invention may be modified and that my limits of modification are only governed by the appended claim.
What is claimed is In a strainer, a wall having a discharge opening therein, parallel longitudinal beads disposed upon opposite sides of the opening, a longitudinal bead disposed at the lower end of the first-mentioned beads and extending at right-angles thereto and joining the same, a discharge spout having inwardly directed inturned flanges at its edges, the flanges being spacedfrom the wall by the beads and secured thereto, and a reticulated elearlient insertible between the flanges and we In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM PARKS.
